We Cannot Climb to Heaven:
The Tower of Babel
(See Gen. 10; Gen. 11:1–9)
After the Flood, Noah and his family returned to live on the land. His sons had many children. In time, many people were living on the earth again. They all spoke the same language. The people wanted to build a city and a tall tower. They thought that they could get to heaven by climbing the tower up into the sky.
Although no tower could ever reach heaven, the people needed to learn that the only way to get there was by living the principles of the gospel. So Heavenly Father caused the people to speak different languages.
Then, because they could not talk to each other, they could not work together on the tower. The people left the city and did not finish building the Tower of Babel.
The way for people to get to heaven is to learn to live as Jesus taught us.
