“He Lives!” Friend, Dec. 1993, 3
A Christmas Message from the First Presidency to the Children of the World:
He Lives!
In every age, prophets have rejoiced in the birth and mission of our Lord and Savior. At this Christmas season, we add our witness to theirs. The Son of God, even Jesus, lives. He was born and lived in humble circumstances. He taught among the children of men. He died in holy innocence. He arose from the grave with His resurrected body. And He will return again to the earth in glory. He is indeed our Savior and our Redeemer, the Only Begotten Son of God. And because He lives, so shall we live forever.
There is none other to compare with Him. More acts of kindness have been done in His name, more words of forgiveness spoken with His love, greater love extended to both friend and enemy by His example than any other in the entire history of mankind.
He is the author of our salvation. He is our guide and our comfort in times of sadness.
It is still early in the Christmas season. There is time for each of us to reach out and help others whose lives we can bless, even with a small touch. This is the time to resolve to do so.
May His Father, who is also the Father of our spirits, bless each of us at this Christmas season with an understanding of the greatest of all gifts, the gift of Jesus, the Savior of mankind; and out of gratitude, may we become a little kinder, a little more generous, a little more thoughtful, a little more merciful.
