“Our House Becomes a Home,” Friend, July 1996, 12–13 Our House Becomes a Home Words and music by Kathryn B. Decker 1. Our house becomes a home when it’s filled with charity, When caring loved ones always treat each other tenderly. Our house becomes a home when we live in harmony. Together we can make our house a home. A house has walls and windows; a home is something more— A smile in ev’ry corner, and love at ev’ry door. Our house becomes a home when there’s joy and gladness there, When cheerful voices greet us and sweet music fills the air. Our house becomes a home when there’s happiness to share. Together we can make our house a home. 2. Our house becomes a home when we have the gospel light To lead us as a fam’ly in the way of truth and right. Our house becomes a home when the spirit’s burning bright. Together we can make our house a home. A house is built for shelter; a home is built inside When holy prophets teach us and Jesus is our guide. Our house becomes a home when we kneel in fam’ly prayer. We grow in faith with ev’ry sacred moment that we share. Our house becomes a home when we feel the Savior there. Together we can make our house a home. Copyright © 1996 by Kathryn B. Decker.
