Happy Mother’s Day!
Here’s a swirly, twirly, curly craft to make for Mother’s Day. Be sure to get an adult’s help—only maybe not from Mom if you want it to be a surprise!
colored paper
tape
scissors
toothpick or bamboo skewer (trimmed)
-
Cut a 2-inch (5-cm) strip of colored paper lengthwise. This will be the color of your flower.
-
Turn the strip sideways and cut thin slits from one end to the other to make a fringe.
-
Curl each piece of fringe into tight curls. This step takes time, but it’s worth it! You might want to curl the ribbons around a toothpick or the inside of a clicker pen (one that comes apart) to make it easier.
-
Cut a 3-inch (8-cm) strip of green paper. Roll the green strip of paper lengthwise, tightly, to form the stem. Glue the edge of the roll to make it stay in place.
-
Wrap the curly flower portion around the new stem in a spiral, starting at the top.
-
Cut out and add leaves, if desired.
