Come, Follow Me
Scripture Time Fun
These ideas go along with Come, Follow Me—for Individuals and Families each week.
Jesus Christ’s Church
For Doctrine and Covenants 20–22
-
Sing “The Church of Jesus Christ” (Children’s Songbook, 77).
-
On April 6, 1830, Jesus Christ’s Church was set up again on earth. You can read about the story on page 42–44.
-
Find something you can build with, like blocks, sticks, or other objects. Then have a race to build a little Church building out of them.
Name That Song
For Doctrine and Covenants 23–26
-
Sing “Lift Up Your Voice and Sing” (Children’s Songbook, 252).
-
God called Emma Smith to put together a book of songs for the Church. He said that “the song of the righteous is a prayer” (Doctrine and Covenants 25:12).
-
Have a family song challenge! One person hums a Church song. Everyone else guesses what song it is. When someone guesses right, everyone sings the song together! Then take turns choosing the next song.
Armor Up!
For Doctrine and Covenants 27–28
-
Sing “Dare to Do Right” (Children’s Songbook, 158).
-
Jesus Christ taught that we need to put on the whole armor of God. When we live the gospel, we can be safe and protected!
-
Use items from around your home to dress up in pretend armor. Then read Doctrine and Covenants 27:15–18. Talk about what each piece of armor means.
Heavenly Father’s Plan
-
Sing “When He Comes Again” (Children’s Songbook, 82–83).
-
The scriptures teach about Heavenly Father’s plan for us. That plan includes being resurrected. That means that we will live again after we die. (See Doctrine and Covenants 29:13, 26.)
-
Read the message by President Eyring on page 2. During the week before Easter Sunday, read one of the scriptures for each day with your family.
