Nigeria has deserts, plains, swamps, mountains, and jungles. Each place is home to all kinds of plants and animals.

The Church in Nigeria

In the 1960s, no missionaries were in Nigeria. But many people wanted to be baptized. They worshipped together and wrote to Church leaders. They waited patiently. Finally, in 1978, they were baptized! Today Nigeria has more than 200,000 Church members.

Sunday Rice

Many Nigerian families eat a meal of jollof rice or white rice with stew after church. It’s a Sunday tradition!

The Stone Is Moving

To play this game, have a group of people stand in a circle. Pass a stone around the circle while you all sing a song. When the song ends, the person holding the stone is out of the game! Keep going until only one person is left.

Recipe

Nigerian Pancakes

1. In a bowl, mix 1 cup flour, 1 tablespoon sugar, a pinch of salt, and a sprinkle of nutmeg.

2. Beat in 2 eggs and 1 cup milk.

3. Mix in 1/2 cup chopped onion. If you want, you can also add a bit ofchopped fresh pepper.

4. Heat a frying pan with a little oil. For each pancake, spoon a little of the mixture into the pan and fry on both sides.
