Rescue the Prisoner

Can you rescue the prisoner from the Lamanite stronghold? Without passing by any guards, find your way to the prisoner, and then leave by a different path than you came. (For a real-life story about rescuing prisoners, see Alma 55.)

Scriptures Logic Grid

Four friends are having a scripture-reading party. (Yes, they’re pretty cool.) Each friend is bringing one book of scripture from the standard works, plus one snack. Using the clues, figure out who is bringing which book and which snack. Use the grid to track possible and impossible combinations. Note: Each snack and each book of scripture is brought only once.

Clues:

  1. The person who loves chips brought the book of scripture that has 138 “sections.”

  2. Jorge’s favorite snack is popcorn.

  3. Clara does not enjoy fruit but loves reading about Abraham.

  4. Max and Jorge were glad someone else brought chips.

  5. The person who loves fruit decided to bring a book from the Bible.

  6. Maria likes only popcorn or chips.

Mysterious Math

In the gospel, “There is indeed such a thing as absolute truth—unassailable, unchangeable truth” (Dieter F. Uchtdorf, “What Is Truth?,” [Church Educational System devotional, Jan. 13, 2013], Gospel Library). The answer to this math problem never changes either—no matter what number you start with. Try it out!

  1. Pick any number.

  2. Add 3.

  3. Double it.

  4. Subtract four.

  5. Divide by 2.

  6. Subtract your original number.

The answer always equals ___________.
