Progress on New Temples Continues

President Russell M. Nelson announced 18 new temples in the Sunday afternoon session of the October 2022 general conference. See the locations of the temples in his closing address on page 121.

The following temples have been dedicated or rededicated since the last general conference in April:

  • The Rio de Janeiro Brazil Temple was dedicated on May 8.

  • The Yigo Guam Temple was dedicated on May 22.

  • The Praia Cape Verde Temple was dedicated on June 19.

  • The Hong Kong China Temple was rededicated on June 19.

  • The Tokyo Japan Temple was rededicated on July 3.

  • The Hamilton New Zealand Temple was rededicated on October 16.

The Belém Brazil Temple will be dedicated on November 20.

The Quito Ecuador Temple will also be dedicated on November 20.

The San Juan Puerto Rico Temple open house is scheduled for December 1–17. It will be dedicated on January 15, 2023.

Ground was broken for the following temples: Grand Junction Colorado (USA) Temple, Lindon Utah (USA) Temple, Farmington New Mexico (USA) Temple, Elko Nevada (USA) Temple, Burley Idaho (USA) Temple, Smithfield Utah (USA) Temple, Yorba Linda California (USA) Temple, Lubumbashi Democratic Republic of the Congo Temple, and Ephraim Utah (USA) Temple.

Groundbreakings are scheduled for the Willamette Valley Oregon (USA) Temple and the Heber Valley Utah (USA) Temple.
