My Calling as a Ward Mission Leader

Welcome to Your Calling!

You have been called to the great work of gathering Heavenly Father’s children through missionary work. President Russell M. Nelson taught:

“The Lord is hastening His work to gather Israel. That gathering is the most important thing taking place on earth today. Nothing else compares in magnitude; nothing else compares in importance; nothing else compares in majesty” (“Hope of Israel” [worldwide devotional for youth, June 3, 2018], broadcasts.lds.org). The Lord will bless you as you seek His guidance in sharing the gospel message with Heavenly Father’s children.

As you engage in your calling, remember these key points:

  • You are called to invite people to come unto Christ and receive the happiness that comes from faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement.

  • “There is no more compelling work than this, nor any which brings greater satisfaction” (First Presidency Message, Preach My Gospel, v).

  • You are not alone in this work. This calling is a partnership with the Lord. As you seek His guidance in coordinating missionary work in your ward, He will magnify your efforts at home and in your calling. You will experience the great joy of bringing souls to Christ (see Doctrine and Covenants 18:15–16).

To help you understand your responsibilities and how you can magnify your calling, study the following resources:

  • Handbook 2: Administering the Church, “The Work of Salvation in the Ward and Stake” (chapter 5)

  • Preach My Gospel, “What Is My Purpose as a Missionary?” (chapter 1) and “How Do I Work with Stake and Ward Leaders?” (chapter 13)

  • Handbook 2, chapters 1–4, which summarize the doctrinal foundation of God’s plan and give other guidance

You also participate in stake priesthood leadership meetings and in other training as available.
