“Hiatus,” New Era, Mar. 1974, 51
Hiatus
I stand,
Restrained,
As my spirit leaps forward
Into soft, billowy clouds
Of uncertainty.
You call me a fool
For delivering my essence
Through veils,
Beyond knowledge;
For placing a hope beyond
The touch of Immediacy.
But I say to you,
I am a fool,
Not because of my Dulcineas and windmills,
But for not keeping pace
With my most eager spirit.
