Learning from her example
Thanks to the New Era for printing “Hidden Feelings” in the October 1990 issue. It was a beautiful story written by a lovely and talented young lady.
Suzanne Francis was in one of my classes at Ricks College. As I got to know her sweet spirit I learned from her. Even though she is no longer with us, I am still learning from her example. Thanks for her story.

A note from Norway
I just wanted to let you know that your magazine really helps me. I am an exchange student in Norway and there isn’t a church where I live. I have the Church manuals to study, but the New Era helps motivate me to be an example and serve others.

No second thoughts
Thanks for the article on honesty in the October issue entitled “The Best Policy.” Julius made an important point when he returned the money he had forgotten to pay at a barbecue stand. The importance to me was that he had no hesitation or second thoughts about returning the money and being honest.
What a good feeling his honesty produced among himself and others. We can all experience those good feelings when we are honest.

Two trend setters
I have especially enjoyed two recent articles—one on Syndi Nettles, scientist, and one on Doni DeCory, athlete. Both of these young women are excelling in fields where women aren’t as prominent as men, and both are strong in the gospel. I have great respect for both of them.
Our Heavenly Father has given all of us talents, and we should do all we can to put those to full advantage, no matter what sex we are.

A similar conversion
I so enjoy reading the New Era. Many of the articles and stories are fantastic.
The story of the conversion of Earl Kauffman of the BYU football team was very interesting and touching. My conversion into the Church was a bit similar to that of Brother Kauffman. I was influenced by the example of a friend who was a member of of the Church, and like Brother Kauffman, I had dreamed of worshipping the true God in the right church.
My membership in the Church, and the opportunities given to me by a kind and loving Heavenly Father, are my greatest joys today.

Without a trace
I am only 13 years old and facing some pretty tough decisions. It’s mostly because I have some “wild” nonmember friends that want me to be someone I’m not.
But I find that reading the New Era makes by troubles seem to vanish without a trace. And each time I read it I feel the presence of the Lord becoming dearer and closer to my heart.

Delighted with Oil Slick
I just received the October issue of your magazine and was delighted with two of your articles, “Oil Slick Brady” and the Question and Answer section on controlling tempers. They were both wonderful and very timely. My faith and spirituality are strengthened every time I read your magazine. What would I do without you?
