One good habit to get into is thanking God for your blessings every day. Or as Amulek put it, “live in thanksgiving daily, for the many mercies and blessings which [God] doth bestow upon you” (Alma 34:38).
In fact, Elder David A. Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles said: “Let me recommend that periodically you and I offer a prayer in which we only give thanks and express gratitude. Ask for nothing; simply let our souls rejoice and strive to communicate appreciation with all the energy of our hearts.”1
As you kneel in prayer, take a moment before you begin to humbly consider the ways the Lord has blessed you today. As we open our hearts and minds to that question, we will likely think of many blessings and mercies we had not before considered. A sincere feeling of gratitude will follow.
