In the Hour of Prayer
Eliza R. Snow Poetry Contest 1981 1st Place Winner
In the hour of prayer
my heart gives praise
to Him who reads
the complexities of my soul
like a children’s primer,
when I can only feel as
the blind man with a
beginning finger to the Braille.
And I can only marvel
how far it is from earth to heaven,
yet how close it seems when the
eye is pressed to the lens
of the Spirit.
