“Hey, Friend!” Friend, July 1994, 34
Hey, Friend!
I don’t know your name,
But that doesn’t matter.
Come join in our game—
You can be the next batter!
I noticed you standing,
Just watching us play,
But you could be fielding
If one pops your way.
We’re not a real team,
Just some kids in the park,
Acting out a dream
Until it gets dark.
Come on, it’s your turn,
So get up to bat!
We’ll help you learn how;
I’ll lend you my hat.
Come join in our game
Before it must end.
I don’t know your name,
But I’m sure you’re my friend!
