“Hello from Russia!” Friend, September 2019
Hello from Russia!
Hi, we’re Paolo and Margo.
Join us as we visit Russia!
Russia is the largest country in the world! It spreads across two continents: Europe and Asia. The national animal of Russia is the brown bear.
The Russian alphabet uses Cyrillic letters. Some of the letters look like English, but they don’t sound the same! Here’s a sign on a Church building in Russia and a Book of Mormon in Russian.
This is Saint Basil’s Cathedral, one of the most famous buildings in Russia. Many people in Russia belong to the Russian Orthodox Church. They are Christian, which means that they believe in Jesus Christ, like us!
In Russia, the first day of school is called Knowledge Day. Children sing, dance, and bring their teacher flowers.
Soup is very popular in Russia! This boy is eating a cabbage soup called shchi.
Last year President Nelson announced that a temple will be built in Russia. Members of the Church in Russia were very excited! It will be the first temple in that huge country.
Thanks for exploring Russia with us. Now we’re heading somewhere warm!
Meet some of our friends from Russia!
I love to share my testimony at church. I like to read the scriptures. I love the temple and can’t wait to go inside.

Jesus loves me, and I love Him. I talk about Him at school, and my friends also know about Him. I like to sing Primary songs to my friends.
