Come, Follow Me

Scripture Time Fun

These ideas go along with Come, Follow Me—for Individuals and Families each week.

home evening ideas

Super Strength

For Doctrine and Covenants 10–11

  • Sing “I Will Be Valiant” (Children’s Songbook, 162).

  • Jesus taught that praying always can help us “come off conqueror” (Doctrine and Covenants 10:5). That means praying can help us be spiritually strong!

  • Challenge your family to a push-up contest! How many can you do? What’s something you can do to be spiritually strong?

Baptism Stories

For Doctrine and Covenants 12–13; Joseph Smith—History 1:66–75

  • Sing “The Priesthood Is Restored” (Children’s Songbook, 89).

  • John the Baptist appeared and gave Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery the priesthood. Then they were baptized in the river (see Joseph Smith—History 1:68–71).

  • Pick a story about baptism to read. (You can find some on pages 4, 8, 16, and 40!) Then share baptism memories from your family. If you haven’t been baptized yet, talk about what you think it will be like!

Mission Accomplished

For Doctrine and Covenants 14–17

  • Sing “I Want to Be a Missionary Now” (Children’s Songbook, 168).

  • Jesus taught that sharing the gospel is one of the most important things we can do (see Doctrine and Covenants 15:6).

  • Read the story on page 32 to learn how a family in Bosnia shared the gospel with their friend Vicky. Then set a goal to share the gospel with someone. You could share a copy of the Friend or invite them to home evening next week!

Love Mailboxes

For Doctrine and Covenants 18–19

  • Sing “I Stand All Amazed” (Hymns, no. 193).

  • Jesus taught that “the worth of souls is great in the sight of God” (Doctrine and Covenants 18:10). That means that each person—including you!—is important to Jesus and Heavenly Father. How do you feel Heavenly Father’s love for you?

  • Make a pretend mailbox for each person in your family. Then leave kind notes for each other to help everyone feel loved!
