Dear Parents,

In our New Testament study this month, we read how the Church is “built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone” (Ephesians 2:20). President Dallin H. Oaks testifies of “that divine process, through which the Lord directs His Church today” (page 7).

Gospel Discussions

Living Prophets

As a family, discuss what you learned from general conference this month. Share quotes from President Dallin H. Oaks’s article about modern prophets and priesthood keys (page 4). What blessings do you receive by following the counsel of prophets and apostles today?

Faith to See Miracles

Invite a family member to read out loud Matthew 9:20–22, which explains Christ’s healing of the woman “with an issue of blood.” How can we develop the faith to see miracles? Why did Christ perform miracles? (see page 43).

How to Become Christlike

Elder Lynn G. Robbins teaches how we can follow the Savior’s invitation to be like Him by incorporating Christlike attributes in our lives (see page 10). You could share some of his examples, such as fireflies or a mother feeding a little child, to help your children see how to develop Christlike attributes in their everyday interactions.

Keep the Faith

2 Timothy 4

Near the end of his life, the Apostle Paul told Timothy, “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith” (2 Timothy 4:7). Try this activity to learn about “keeping the faith”:

Before Home Evening

  1. Interview some older people who have been faithful in the gospel. These could be grandparents or members in your ward or branch.

  2. Ask them questions you are interested in or questions like these: What trials did you experience and overcome? Did you have an experience when it took courage to live the gospel? What was most helpful in remaining faithful to your belief in Jesus Christ?

  3. Write down or record their testimonies and experiences.

During Home Evening

  1. Share with your family the testimonies you heard and lessons you learned.

  2. What did these people teach you about overcoming difficulties through faith?

Discussion: How can you keep the faith throughout your life, despite challenges?
