How Can You See God in Your Life?
The Joseph Smith Translation of 1 John 4:12 reads: “No man hath seen God at any time, except them who believe. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us” (in 1 John 4:12, footnote a).
Various disciples—including John (see Revelation 4), Stephen (see Acts 7:55–56), Lehi (see 1 Nephi 1:8), and Joseph Smith (see Joseph Smith—History 1:17)—have seen Heavenly Father. Many more have seen Jesus Christ in the flesh. But we don’t need to see God with our eyes to have seen Him in our lives.
Light the World
When we give Christlike service, we may help others see the hand of the Lord in their own lives. How might you help others see the Lord’s image shining in your countenance? (see Alma 5:14). Here are some ideas to brighten someone’s day:
-
Ask your ministering family how you can help.
-
Let someone with small children go ahead of you in line.
-
Write a card for someone who is lonely or visit him or her.
