Starting Today I’m Taking the Leap
Jesus invites us not to be afraid. Just before His own suffering and Crucifixion, He told the Apostles, “Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” (John 14:27). He promised that the Holy Ghost would comfort them in His absence (see John 14:26).
After suffering in Gethsemane for the sins of all people, Jesus is betrayed into the hands of the authorities. Following a series of one-sided trials, He is sentenced to death by crucifixion. His suffering for us continues on the cross, where He is surrounded by people who cruelly mock Him. And yet through it all, Jesus courageously endures, never letting fear keep Him from carrying out His mission to redeem all of God’s children.
Through the power of His atoning sacrifice, we can leave fear behind, find hope, and become a better version of ourselves. To learn more about what Jesus did and made possible for us, read “The Living Christ: The Testimony of the Apostles” (ChurchofJesusChrist.org).
