Ministering with Greater Love—Demonstrating How Ministering Can Increase Members’ Feelings of Belonging
Instruction from Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf, President Susan H. Porter, and President Emily Belle Freeman
Ministering work is missionary work. We should see Sunday meetings as an opportunity to minister—to express Christlike love for someone, to make a difference in someone’s life. Our Sunday meetings can be, like the Book of Mormon, “another testament of Jesus Christ” because of the spirit of Christlike love and belonging people feel there.
Children and youth feel they belong as they help others feel they belong. Sunday meetings can be an opportunity for the rising generation to lead out in loving, sharing, and inviting. Children and youth can pray, sing, and give talks. Youth can greet members and visitors and help everyone feel at home in Christ’s Church. Involvement in this work will prepare the rising generation for missions and for a lifetime of service to the Lord.
Hymns are songs of the heart. Songs from the new hymnbook will begin to appear online in 2024 and in print in 2026. When we join our voices in praise of our beloved Savior, we feel the unity and belonging that are at the heart of ministering.
