Helping Leaders and Members Share the Gospel as They Love, Share, and Invite

Instruction from Elder Quentin L. Cook

The Savior beautifully taught and exemplified the principles of love, share, and invite. These principles help us share the gospel and help new and returning members progress along the covenant path.

“Often, inviting simply means including our family, friends, and neighbors in what we are already doing. For example, we can invite them to:

  • Join us in our homes for activities.

  • Join us for worship and gospel learning.

  • Attend events, such as a baby blessing or baptism.

  • Participate in ward and community activities or service.”

The invitation to attend sacrament meeting can help friends learn the blessings of making covenants and feel the fellowship of the Saints. Sacrament meeting attendance is “one of the most valuable experiences you can help people have.”

Wards and branches plan and host a variety of activities. These activities provide a natural opportunity to invite friends to come and see. Those who attend should feel welcomed and loved. Weekly coordination meetings should include opportunities to invite returning members and friends to join us.

A new resource enables units to publicize Sunday worship services and ward activities online so that members can more easily invite others to join them. People who are searching online for local activities can also find a ward’s activities and RSVP. Additional information on the availability of this resource will be shared through Area Presidencies.

While not every invitation will be accepted, we can feel great satisfaction that we love our friends enough to invite them to experience something so meaningful and precious to us. “Any effort to live the principles of love, share, and invite is positive, whether or not a person meets with the missionaries or joins the Church.”

Additional resources to help members love, share, and invite can be found in the updated “Sharing the Gospel” section of Gospel Library.
