After finishing the Passover meal, Jesus walked to a garden called Gethsemane. Peter, James, and John went with Him into this grove of olive trees. As they waited nearby, Jesus offered what is sometimes called the “Intercessory Prayer.”
The Savior spoke to Heavenly Father. He pled for strength. He prayed for us.
And, in a way we don’t quite understand, He began feeling every one of our pains and sicknesses. He agreed to pay the eternal price of our sins.
This was the beginning of the Atonement of Jesus Christ, which is the most important event that ever happened!
Maybe today would be a good time to put some extra effort into our prayers. We could pause before praying and think about questions like:
- What am I thankful for right now?
- Who are some others I could pray for?
- What do I need extra help with?
Why do you think we end our prayers in the name of Jesus Christ? Our lives can be joyful #BecauseofHim!
