Have you ever wanted help to make a tough decision?
Yeah, me too! Sometimes it can be stressful to make the right choice.
But that is one thing I love about the For the Strength of Youth guide! It helps us know how to make important decisions.
In the First Presidency letter at the front of the guide it says, “This guide will help you build a solid foundation for making choices to stay on the covenant path. It will help you … find joy in following Jesus Christ throughout your life” (For the Strength of Youth: A Guide for Making Choices, p. 2).
President Russell M. Nelson has talked often about the importance of having a strong foundation. Building a solid gospel foundation will help you make good choices throughout your life.
When talking about the FSY guide, Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf said, “When I read it, I find direction!”
I love that because that happens to me too.
I like to study the scriptures referenced in the guide and then mark them in my own scriptures. They help me know what the Lord wants me to do.
You might try doing that in your own copy of the guide and see what you learn!
Last week I was reading in For the Strength of Youth the section “Walk in God’s Light” where it says, “Social media and other technology can take much of your time without giving a lot of value in return” (p. 19). I felt prompted to make a change.
For me, that was an invitation to observe how much time I was spending with my phone. So I decided to take a break from the virtual world and connect with my awesome friends face to face. It was so much fun and really fulfilling!
When I follow Jesus Christ’s teachings and example, I feel free!
