It’s a great example of not being offended.

Here’s the story of Pahoran and Moroni.

Captain Moroni was a great military leader and a faithful servant of the Lord who only wanted what was best for the Nephites.

But he made a serious mistake in accusing Pahoran, the governor, of being a traitor to his country! In fact, Pahoran was loyal and had been kicked out of office by actual traitors.

If you’ve ever been falsely accused of something, you know how Pahoran might have felt when he read Moroni’s accusing letter. It would have been understandable for Pahoran to become offended and responded angrily in return. But he didn’t!

“I am not angry, but do rejoice in the greatness of your heart,” he said (Alma 61:9). In other words: You were wrong, but I know your heart’s in the right place.

As flawed humans, we make mistakes all the time. Instead of being offended when others mess up, we can choose to be like Pahoran: graceful and forgiving.

A Pahoran Attitude

Try to be extra forgiving for a week. What do you notice?
