The Prophet Teaches: Repentance, Part 2

09/15/20 | 1 min read
Repentance is a blessing, not a punishment.

Repentance can be hard—but not as hard as the devil makes it out to be. Lucifer very much wants you NOT to repent. President Russell M. Nelson taught:

“Too many people consider repentance as punishment—something to be avoided except in the most serious circumstances. But this feeling of being penalized is engendered by Satan. He tries to block us from looking to Jesus Christ, who stands with open arms, hoping and willing to heal, forgive, cleanse, strengthen, purify, and sanctify us.”¹

“The fruits of repentance are sweet. Repentant converts find that the truths of the restored gospel govern their thoughts and deeds, shape their habits, and forge their character. They are more resilient and able to deny themselves of all ungodliness. … Virtue garnishes their thoughts, and self-confidence grows. … Truth becomes more attractive, and things praiseworthy become more engaging.”²
