Notes

Wraps a title and one or more locators. The title is used to store text that introduces the list (such as “see” or “see also”).

Reference lists embedded in index list items must follow the entry and precede any locators. If they need to appear after the locators in print, use a transform to move them there.

Marking in Microsoft Word

Use paragraph styles like the following to mark list titles.

  • LISTref-1_title
  • LISTref-2_title

Use paragraph styles like the following to mark the locators.

  • LISTref-1_locator
  • LISTref-2_locator

The number in these stylenames indicates the level of embedding. A reference list embedded in an index list would be styled LISTref-2, because even though it is the first reference list, it is two levels deep.

For lists embedded in other structures, use the xmlPara paragraph style to enter beginning and ending <list> tags around the list, around any lists that contain the list, and around any lists contained by those lists.
