Temple Trip for Nine from the Saint Lucia Branch
It was a blessing for the nine members from our Vieux-Fort Branch to travel to the Dominican Republic Santo Domingo Temple in April. I’m grateful for the brother who assisted in financing the temple trip. I pray that I’ll be able to have the opportunity to send many more members to the temple that they may also experience the wonderful joy, peace, calm and love the temple holds. Our group had the opportunity to do their family history and saving ordinances for many of their deceased family members. My experience of baptizing my grandparents on both sides of my family was the opportunity of a lifetime.
The temple is a place where we do service for those who have passed on, but I also witnessed the personal experiences many had of making their own covenants.
The temple has the power to change us. One sister was made aware of her quick temper and since her endowment has gained a desire to change and to be humbler. She appreciates life more and has become closer to our Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ.
Another sister expressed her difficulty to forgive, but since visiting the temple I’ve seen a difference in her interactions with others. She no longer feels the need to hold on to past issues with people and can now forgive.
The 86-year-old member of our group said that it was a very long difficult trip and worried that he didn’t think he deserved to be one of the fortunate ones to come, but he knew that our Lord Jesus Christ loves him and had given him this chance of a lifetime.
Another member in our group was mourning the sudden loss of his father and expressed how grateful he was to be at the temple to feel peace during such a trying time of his life. He looks forward to a future return to do his father’s ordinances.
I am no exception to receiving blessings here, my family became more appreciative of each other as we did temple work for others. For those who read this message, I can’t express to you how much it will change your life if you strive in every way and do all that you can to enter the house of the Lord.
I bear my testimony that this gospel is true and the Lord loves and cares for us. We are Heavenly Father’s children and if we hold strong to the faith, He will make things possible that we can’t yet comprehend.
