This year’s Come, Follow Me study of the Doctrine and Covenants will highlight how the Lord restored His Church and gospel through latter-day prophets. Many articles in this month’s issue highlight the blessings of the Restoration.

Participate in the Gathering

On page 2, President Russell M. Nelson shares ways we can gather to the Savior, gather with the Saints, and gather in God’s service. Consider setting a goal for this month to contribute to one of those three kinds of gathering.

Serve in the Restored Church

Elder Patrick Kearon of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles talks about the opportunities we have in the restored Church of Jesus Christ to “serve others with love” (see page 8). Are there people in your ward or branch who are struggling? You could pray for these people and ask for inspiration on how to serve them.

Learn from the Restoration Proclamation

In 2020, the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles issued “The Restoration of the Fulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ: A Bicentennial Proclamation to the World” (see page 40). As you review the Restoration proclamation, you might consider these questions: What key events does it mention, and how did the Lord guide those events?

Doctrine and Covenants 1:30

In this verse, the Lord describes His Church as “the only true and living church upon the face of the whole earth.” The following teaching ideas can help your children understand what “true” and “living” mean:

In the June 2024 Liahona, Elder J. Devn Cornish, an emeritus General Authority Seventy, addressed the question “What do we mean when we say the Church is true?” You could share with your children some of the key points from that article. What spiritual experiences have you had to help you know the Church is true—that it is led by Jesus Christ, that it has priesthood authority, that it is led by prophets, that it shares the gospel of Jesus Christ?
If possible, have your children help you pick a leaf or small branch from a tree or vegetation nearby. Discuss what will happen to it now that it’s not connected to the tree. Why will the leaf or branch die? Read John 15:4, where the Savior compares Himself to a vine and His followers to the branches. How else might the Church of Jesus Christ be considered a living church?
