Saved from the Fire

Illustration of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego sitting together talking.

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego were good friends. They helped each other choose the right.

King Nebuchadnezzar II demands that everybody bow down and worship a graven image.

One day the king told everyone to pray to a golden statue. If they didn’t, he would throw them into a fire.

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego refuse to bow down and worship the graven image.

Everyone else prayed to the statue. But the three friends prayed only to God.

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego are thrown into the fiery furnace.

The king was angry. He threw Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego into the fire.

Jehovah appears to Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego in the fiery furnace and protects them from the consuming flames.

But the fire didn’t burn them! A heavenly being stood with them and kept them safe.
