How Adults Can Share the Gospel

How Adults Can Share the Gospel

Inviting others to come unto Christ is “the most important invitation you could ever offer to another person,” because the gospel of Jesus Christ gives people peace, guidance, and strength (Henry B. Eyring, “Come unto Christ,” Ensign, Mar. 2008, 49).

Ways Adults Can Share the Gospel

  • Tell someone God loves them and you do too.

  • Listen to a friend without judging, and share your confidence that God will help them.

  • Comfort a friend experiencing a challenge—and pray with and for them.

  • Text a friend you haven’t spoken to in a while, and let them know you care.

  • Talk about what you learned at church over the weekend.

  • Share a ward activity via a social media post or personal invitation.

  • Share a scripture with a friend who is facing a challenge.

  • Introduce yourself to a visitor in church, or sit by someone new.

  • Invite a friend to take a self-reliance class or an EnglishConnect class with you.

Prophetic Counsel

You have the chance, every day, to share the gospel with people around you and help them take one step closer to Jesus Christ. President Russell M. Nelson has reaffirmed: “Everyone deserves the chance to know about the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. Every person deserves to know where they can find the hope and peace that ‘[pass] all understanding’ [Philippians 4:7]” (“Preaching the Gospel of Peace,” Liahona, May 2022, 7).

Include Heavenly Father in your efforts, and ask Him for help as you act upon the principles of “love, share, and invite.” He will direct you to the specific wants and needs of people around you. He will be with you as you share invitations that will meet their needs.

As you pray for opportunities and act on them, you will find people who are ready to make and keep covenants. You will understand on a deeper level what it means to be an instrument in helping others enter the covenant path. Heavenly Father will fill your life with joy as you help friends feel the Spirit and come closer to Jesus Christ.

Consider serving a full-time or service mission as a couple or individual as your circumstances permit. “There are so many ways senior missionaries can do what no one else can. You are a remarkable force for good, seasoned in the Church, and poised to encourage and rescue God’s children. … As you serve, you will feel the love of the Lord in your life, you will know Him, He will know you, and ‘how great shall be your joy’ [Doctrine and Covenants 18:15]” (Ronald A. Rasband, “How Great Will Be Your Joy,” Liahona, Nov. 2023, 53, 54).
