“Prelude,” New Era, Aug. 1988, 28
Prelude
Ten minutes before sacrament meeting
The chapel is empty
Except for the bishop’s family
And the organist.
In the quiet chapel
The organist worships
With her fingers,
Bringing forth
Prayers of notes
That fill the silence
With a peace
That eludes the minds
of chattering children
But reaches to the depths
Of a troubled soul.
