Naʻe talu pē mei fuoloa ʻa hono teuteuʻi ʻe he ʻEikí ʻa e māmaní ki hono Toe Fakafoki Mai ʻo e Ongoongolelei ʻo Sīsū Kalaisí kimuʻa ia pea hā ʻa e Tamaí mo e ʻAló kia Siosefa Sāmita ʻi he 1820. Ko hono moʻoní, ne kamata ʻa hono teuteu ʻe he ʻEikí ke toe fakafoki mai ʻa hono kakato ʻo ʻEne ongoongoleleí ʻi he ngaahi ʻaho fakaʻosí kimuʻa pea toki fakatupu ʻa e māmaní.

ʻI he fakahā ʻi ʻOkatopa 1918 ʻoku ʻiloa ko e Tokāteline mo e Ngaahi Fuakava vahe 138, ʻa ia naʻe maʻu ʻe Palesiteni Siosefa F. Naʻe fakaʻaongaʻi ʻe he Fakalelei-Lotu Palotisaní ʻa e faʻu ʻa Kutenipokí ke fakamafola ʻaki ʻenau ngaahi fakakaukaú pea mo ʻomi e Tohi Tapú ki he kakaí ʻi ha founga ne ʻikai faʻa fakakaukau ki ai ha taha ʻi he toʻu tangata ʻi he kuonga muʻá.

Ko e Liliu ʻi he Tohi mo e Laukongá pea mo e Liliu ʻo e Tohi Tapú

Naʻe tokoniʻi ʻa e liliu ʻi he pākí ʻe he tupulaki ʻi he tohí mo e laukongá pea mo ha fakalalahi ʻi he holi ʻa e kakai ʻIulopé ke lau e ngaahi lea toputapu ʻo e folofolá ʻi heʻenau lea fakafonua pē ʻanautolú.

Naʻe hoko ʻa e Tohi Tapu faka-Latiná, ʻa ia naʻe liliu mei he faka-Kalisí mo e faka-Hepeluú ʻi he senituli 5 AD, ko e Tohi Tapu ia ʻa e siasi Katolika hihifó ʻi ha taʻu ʻe 1,000.10 Naʻe laui senituli e ako ʻa ha kakai ʻIulope tokolahi fekauʻaki mo e Tohi Tapú mei he ngaahi malanga naʻe fai ʻe he kau taulaʻeikí.

Ka ʻi he senituli 15 mo e 16, naʻe faʻu ʻe he kau fokotuʻu lotu foʻoú ha ngaahi liliu foʻou ki he Tohi Tapú ʻi he ngaahi lea fakafonua angamaheni ʻo ʻIulopé, hangē ko e lea faka-Siamané, faka-ʻĪtalí, faka-Pilitāniá, faka-Sipeiní mo e faka-Falaniseé. Naʻe meimei ke fakatefito e ngaahi liliu lea ko ʻení ʻi he ngaahi tohi faka-Hepelū mo e faka-Kalisi totonú—kae ʻikai ko e Tohi Tapu faka-Latiná. Naʻa nau tokoniʻi ha kau laukonga ʻe laumano ke nau aʻusia ʻa e ngaahi talanoa mo e ngaahi akonaki ʻa e Tohi Tapú ʻi heʻenau lea fakafonua pē ʻanautolú.

Naʻe kau ʻa Māteni Lutelo, naʻe fāʻeleʻi ʻi he 1483, ʻi ha taha ʻo e kau taki ne nau pulusi ʻa e Tohi Tapú ʻi he lea fakafonua ʻo hono kuongá. Naʻe pulusi ʻa ʻene liliu ki he lea faka-Siamané ʻi he 1534—ko ha taʻu mahuʻinga ia ʻi he hisitōlia ʻo e tui faka-Kalisitiane ʻi he hihifó.11 Naʻe tokoni ʻa e tui ʻa Lutelo ki he mālohi ʻo e folofolá ke fakamālohia ʻa e Fokotuʻu Lotu Foʻoú. Naʻe poupouʻi ʻe he kau fokotuʻu lotu foʻou ʻe niʻihi ʻa e ako fakaemāmani lahí koeʻuhí ke maʻu ʻe he tokotaha kotoa pē ʻa e faingamālie ke lau e folofolá maʻanautolu pē.

Naʻe faifai pea tautau ʻa Tinitale ʻi he konga kimuʻa ʻo ʻOkatopa 1536, ʻo hangē pē ko e kakai tangata mo e fefine kehe ʻe niʻihi ne tamateʻi koeʻuhí ko ʻenau fakaʻamu ke maʻu ʻe he kakaí ʻa e folofolá ʻi heʻenau lea fakafonua pē ʻanautolú.13 Ka neongo iá, naʻe kei maʻu pē ʻene liliu faka-Pilitāniá he naʻe fakakau ʻa ʻene ngaahi leá mo e kupuʻi leá mo e ngaahi vahe kakato ʻo ʻene liliú ki he Tatau ʻa Kingi Sēmisí.14

Ko e Ngaahi Liliu ʻi he Fakapolitikalé mo e Fetuʻutakí

Naʻe teuteuʻi ʻe he ngaahi liliu ʻi he pākí, liliu leá, pea mo e tohí mo e laukongá ʻa e hala ki he liliu fakapolitikalé mo fakatekinolosiá, ʻa ia naʻe mafola ʻi ʻIulope mo e ongo ʻAmeliká ʻi he vahaʻa ʻo e senituli 17 mo e 19.
