INkosi ifuna ngiwunakekele umndeni wami.

Njengo Dade uWoodruff, uVilate Kimball naye wezwa ngokubhabhadiselwa abafileyo ngesikhathi umyeni wakhe, uHeber, ekude eyoshumayela ivangeli. Wambhalela lokhu:

Bengicabanga ukulinda uze ubuye ekhaya, kodwa ukugcina kwami ukuzwa uJoseph ekhuluma ngaloludaba, wathi wonke umuntu makasukume, sikhulule abahlobo bethu masinya. Ngakho ke ngizohamba kulelisonto, njengoba bebaningana omakhelwane nabo abahambayo. Abanye sebeke babhabhadiswa bephindelela izikhathi eziningana. … Ngalokho ke uyabona nawe ukuthi bonke banethuba. Kodwa uthi akuyona imfundiso enhle lena?”3

Kwathi kuphela ukwakhiwa kwesitsha sokubhabhadisela eThempelini laseNauvoo, kwaqala ukubhabhadisela abafileyo lapho esikhundleni sokuba kwenziwe emfuleni njengaphambilini. UPhebe Chase, owayehlala endaweni yaseNauvoo, wabhalela unina ngalelithempeli, echaza isitsha sokubhabhadisela njengendawo lapho “singabhabhadiselwa khona abafileyo bethu futhi sibengabasindisi eNtabeni yaseSiyoni.” Waqhubeka nokuchaza ethi kulesisitsha, “sengikengabhadiselwa ubaba nabo bonke abangani bami asebafa. … Manje sengifuna ukwazi amagama abazali bakho ukuze ngibakhulule, ngokuba ngifisa ukukhulula abaFileyo. … INkosi isikhulumile futhi yabuyisela uhlelo lwasemandulo.”4
