Voice See also Revelation As used in the scriptures, sometimes an audible message spoken by the Lord or His messengers. The voice of the Spirit may also be inaudible and directed to the heart or mind. Adam and Eve heard the voice of the Lord God, Gen. 3:8 (Moses 4:14). The Lord spoke to Elijah in a still small voice, 1 Kgs. 19:11–13. The righteous follow the voice of the Good Shepherd, John 10:1–16. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice, John 18:37. I did obey the voice of the Spirit, 1 Ne. 4:6–18. There came a voice unto me, saying: Enos, thy sins are forgiven, Enos 1:5. It was a still voice of perfect mildness and did pierce even to the very soul, Hel. 5:29–33 (3 Ne. 11:3–7). Whether by mine own voice or by the voice of my servants, it is the same, D&C 1:38. Whatsoever they shall speak when moved upon by the Holy Ghost shall be the voice of the Lord, D&C 68:2–4. Every soul who obeyeth my voice shall see my face and know that I am, D&C 93:1.
