Kwintlango yeSinayi, uMoses wahlanganisa abantwana bakwaSirayeli emazantsi entaba. Apho iNkosi yabhengeza ukuba Yona yayifuna ukujika eli qela lamakhoboka elisandula ukukhululwa ukuba libe ngabantu abanamandla. “Nibe kum” Yona yatsho, “bubukumkani bababingeleli, nohlanga olungcwele” (Eksodus 19:6). Wathembisa ukuba babeza kuchuma kwaye baphumelele, nokokuba babengqongwe ziintshaba ezinkulu nezinamandla (bona Duteronomi 28:1–14).

Konke oku bekungayi kwenzeka kuba amaSirayeli ayemaninzi okanye omelele okanye enobuchule. Kwakuya kwenzeka, yachaza iNkosi, “ukuba nithe naliphulaphula okunene izwi lam, nawugcina umnqophiso wam” (Eksodus 19:5). Yayingamandla kaThixo, ingengawo awabo, awayeya kubenza babe namandla.

Ukanti amaSirayeli ayengasoloko elithobela ilizwi laKhe, kwaye ekuhambeni kwexesha ayeka ukugcina umnqophiso waKhe. Abaninzi baqala ukunqula abanye oothixo baza baqalisa ukwenza amasiko wabo babebangqungile. Baye bala loo nto eyayibenza uhlanga, olwaluhlukile kwabanye abantu—ubudlelwane bomnqophiso wabo neNkosi. Ngaphandle kwamandla kaThixo ukubakhusela (bona 2 OoKumkani 17:6–7), kwakungekho nto inokunqanda iintshaba zabo (bona 2 IziKronike 36:12–20).

Amaxesha aliqela phakathi kwe-735 kunye ne-720 BC, ama-Asiriya ahlasela uBukumkani baseMantla bakwaSirayeli, ikhaya lezizwe ezilishumi kwezilishumi elinambini, bathwala amawaka ngamawaka wamaSirayeli ekuthinjweni aya kwiindawo ezahlukeneyo zoBukumkani base-Asiriya (bona 2 OoKumkani 17:1–7).1 La maSirayeli aziwa ngokuba “zizizwe ezilahlekileyo,” ngokuyinxalenye yokuba asuswa kwilizwe lawo aza asasazwa kwezinye izizwe. Kodwa ayekwalahlekile nangengqondo enzulu: ekuhambeni kwexesha aye aphulukana nokuziva kwabo njengabantu bomnqophiso kaThixo.

Ngenxa yokuba uBukumkani baseMazantsi bakwaYuda, ngamanye amaxesha, babulunge ngakumbi kunoBukumkani baseMantla, baye bahlala ixesha elide.2 Ekugqibeleni abantu nalapho baye bayifulathela iNkosi. Ama-Asiriya ahlasela kwaye oyisa uninzi loBukumkani baseMazantsi; yiYerusalem kuphela eyasindiswa ngokungummangaliso (bona 2 OoKumkani 19; Isaya 10:12–13). Emva kwexesha, phakathi kuka-597 no-580 BC, amaBhabheli atshabalalisa iYerusalem, kuquka netempile, kwaye athimba abantu abaninzi besixeko (bona 2 OoKumkani 24–25; 2 IziKronike 36; Yeremiya 3952). Malunga neminyaka engama-70 kamva, intsalela yakwaYuda yavunyelwa ukuba ibuyele eYerusalem kwaye yaphinda yakha itempile. Uninzi, nangona kunjalo, lwahlala eBhabheli.3

Njengoko izizukulwana zazidlula, amaSirayeli aphuma kuzo zonke izizwe “ayechithachithelwe … entlangeni zonke ababengazazi” (Zekariya 7:14; bona futhi Amosi 9:8–9). Abanye babekhokelwe yiNkosi ukuba baye kwamanye amazwe (bona 2 Nifayi 1:1–5; Omnayi 1:15–16). Abanye babeshiye uSirayeli bebaleka ukuthinjwa 2 OoKumkani 25:22–26; Yeremiya 42:13–19; 43:1–7) okanye ngenxa yezizathu zopolitiko okanye ezoqoqosho.4

Ezi ziganeko sizibiza ngokuba kukusasazeka kukaSirayeli. Kwaye kubalulekile ukwazi malunga nokusasazeka ngenxa yezizathu ezininzi. Enye into, sisihloko esiphambili seTestamente eNdala: Abaprofeti abaninzi beTestamente eNdala babengamangqina okwehla kokomoya okwakhokelela ekusasazekeni kukaSirayeli. Babekubonile kwangaphambili oko kusasazeka kwaye balumkisa ngabo, kwaye abanye babo babephila kubo.5 Oko kuyanceda ukukhumbula xa ufunda incwadi ka-Isaya, noYeremiya, no-Amos, kunye nezinye ezininzi iincwadi ezikwinxalenye yokugqibela yeTestamente eNdala. Ngalo mxholo engqondweni, xa ufunda iziprofeto zabo malunga neAsiriya neBhabheli, ukukhonza izithixo kunye nokuthinjwa, ukwenziwa ube senkangala kunye nokubuyiselwa ekugqibeleni, uya kuyazi into abathetha ngayo.

Ukuqonda ukusasazeka kukaSirayeli kuya kukunceda ukuba uyiqonde ngcono iNcwadi kaMormoni nayo, kuba iNcwadi kaMormoni iluxwebhu lwesebe lamaSirayeli athe asasazeka (bona 1 Nifayi 15:12). Olu xwebhu luqala ngosapho lukaLihayi lubaleka eYerusalem malunga ne-600 BC, kanye phambi kokuba amaBhabheli ahlasele. ULihayi wayengomnye wabo baprofeti abaprofetha malunga nokusasazeka kukaSirayeli.6 Kwaye usapho lwakhe lwanceda ukuzalisekisa eso siprofetho, bathatha isebe labo lendlu kaSirayeli balityala kwelinye icala lehlabathi, eMelika.

Ukuhlanganisela

Ukusasazeka kukaSirayeli, nangona kunjalo, sisiqingatha nje sebali. INkosi ayibalibali abantu baYo, kwaye Yona ayibashiyi ngokupheleleyo, naxa beyishiyile Yona. Iziprofeto ezininzi zokuba uSirayeli wayeya kuchithachitheka zazikhatshwa zizithembiso ezininzi zokokuba uThixo wayeya kuwahlanganisa ngenye imini.7

Olo suku lunamhlanje—usuku lwethu. Ukuhlanganisela sele kuqalile. Ngo-1836, amawaka ngamawaka eminyaka emva kokuba uMoses wayehlanganise abantwana bakwaSirayeli emazantsi eNtaba yeSinayi, uMoses waye wavela kwiTempile yaseKirtland ukuba azinikele kuJoseph Smith “izitshixo zokuhlanganisela uSirayeli zivela kuzo zonke iimbombo zomhlaba” (IMfundiso neMinqophiso 110:11). Ngoku, phantsi kolawulo lwabo baphethe ezi zitshixo, izizwe zakwaSirayeli ziyaqokelelwa kuzo zonke izizwe apho abakhonzi beNkosi banakho ukuya khona.

UMongameli Russell M. Nelson ubize le ndibano “njengeyona nto ibalulekileyo eyenzekayo emhlabeni namhlanje. Akukho nto ithelekiswa nobukhulu, ayikho enye into ethelekiswa nokubaluleka, ayikho enye into ethelekiswa nobungangamsha. Kwaye ukuba ukhetha njalo, ukuba uyafuna, unokuba yinxalenye enkulu yayo.”8

Wenza njani oko? Kuthetha ntoni ukuhlanganisa uSirayeli? Ingaba oko kuthetha ukubuyisela izizwe ezilishumi elinambini kumhlaba ezazikhe zahlala kuwo? Ngokwenyani, kuthetha into enkulu ngakumbi, ngakumbi nangakumbi yangonaphakade. Njengoko uMongameli uNelson wachaza:

“Xa sithetha ngokuhlanganisea, sithetha nje le nyaniso isisiseko: bonke abantwana bakaBawo wethu waseZulwini, kumacala omabini esigqubuthelo, bafanele ukuva umyalezo wevangeli ebuyisiweyo kaYesu Krestu. …

Nanini na usenza nantoni na enceda nabani na—nakweliphina icala lekhuselo—athabathe inyathelo lokwenza iminqophiso noThixo kwaye afumane imimiselo yabo ebalulekileyo yokubhaptizwa neyasetempileni, uyanceda ekuhlanganiseni uSirayeli. Kulula ngolu hlobo.”9

Oku kuyenzeka, njengoko u-Isaya watshoyo, “omnye komnye” (Isaya 27:12) okanye, njengokuba uYeremiya waxela kwangaphambili, “abe mnye emzini, babe babini kwimizalwane” (Yeremiya 3:14).

Ukuhlanganisela uSirayeli kuthetha ukubuyisela abantwana bakaThixo kuYe. Kuthetha ukubabuyisela kubudlelwane babo bomnqophiso kunye naYe. Kuthetha ukumisa kwakhona “uhlanga olungcwele” Yena awayephakamise ukulusungula kwakudala (Eksodus 19:6).

Hamba Siye Ekhaya

Njengomgcini womnqophiso, uyinxalenye yendlu kaSirayeli.10 Uhlanganisiwe, kwaye ungumhlanganisi. Ibali eliyindumasi leenkulungwane zeminyaka emide elaqala ngomnqophiso phakathi kukaThixo no-Abraham liyokheka lide lifikelele kuvuthondaba, kwaye ungumdlali obalulekileyo. Ngoku lixesha xa “uYesu uya kuthi kuSirayeli wonke, ‘Hamba siye ekhaya.’”11

Nguwo lo umyalezo wabahlanganisi: Yizani ekhaya emnqophisweni. Yizani ekhaya eZiyon. Yizani ekhaya kuYesu Krestu, Lowo uNgcwele kaSirayeli, kwaye Yena uya kukuzisa ekhaya kuThixo, uYihlo.

  1. Izizwe ezilishumi ezazithinjwe yiAsiriya yayinguRubhen, noSimon, no-Isakare, noZebhulon, noDan, noNafetali, noGadi, noAshere, no-Efrayim, kunye noManase. Amalungu esizwe sakwaLevi ayesasazeke kuzo zonke ezinye iindawo zezinye izizwe ukuze enze imisebenzi yawo yobubingeleli.

  2. UBukumkani baseMazantsi babubandakanya ikakhulu isizwe sakwaYuda nesakwaBhenjamin. Nangona kunjalo, amalungu ezinye izizwe eziliqela ayehlala apho nawo (bona 2 IziKronike 11:14–17). Umzekelo, uLihayi, owayehlala eYerusalem, wayengowesizwe sikaManase.
