Mateuteu ki he ʻAho ʻo e Taú

ʻEletā Eduardo Gavarret

Fakatauange te tau mateuteu, ʻi heʻetau falala ki he Fakamoʻui, ko e ʻEiki ʻo e Ngaahi Kau Taú, kae ʻikai tūkia ʻi he malaʻe taú.

Naʻe ʻi he taloni ʻo Pilitāniá ʻa Lisiate III ʻi he 1485. Ko ha taimi ia ʻo e ngāngāʻehu fakapolitikale, pea ne pau ke maluʻi ʻe Lisiate hono kalauní ʻo tuʻo lahi.

Naʻe ʻikai tatau ʻa Henelī mo Lisiate, he naʻe siʻi ʻene taukei he malaʻe taú, pea ko ʻene kau taú naʻe toko 5,000 pē.

ʻOku fakamatalaʻi nounou ʻe ha talanoa ʻiloa ʻa e ngaahi meʻa ne hoko he ʻaho 22 ʻo ʻAokosi 1485. Naʻe teuteu ʻa e Tuʻi ko Lisiaté mo ʻene kau tangatá ʻi he pongipongi ko iá ke fehangahangai mo e kau tau ʻa Henelií. ʻE hoko ʻa e ikuna ʻo e taú ko e tuʻi ia ʻo ʻIngilaní.

Ne tuʻutuʻuni ʻe he tamaioʻeikí ki he tufunga ukameá, “Fakasū ke vave. ʻOku finangalo e tuʻí ke muʻomuʻa heʻene kau taú.”

Ne tali ange ʻe he tufunga ukameá kuo pau ke kiʻi tatali.

Naʻe pehē ʻe he tamaioʻeiki taʻe-faʻatatalí he ʻikai toe lava ia ʻo tatali. Naʻá ne talaange, “ʻOku laka mai he taimí ni ʻa e ngaahi fili ʻo e tuʻí, pea kuo pau ke tau fakafetaulakiʻi kinautolu ʻi he malaʻe taú. Ngāueʻaki pē meʻa ʻokú ke ʻosi maʻú.”

Pea hangē ko hono tuʻutuʻuni atú, ne fai ʻe he tufunga ukameá hono lelei tahá, ʻo ngaohi ha sū hoosi ʻe fā mei ha konga ukamea. Hili ʻene tuki e ngaahi suú, ne ne tuki leva ha sū ʻe tolu ki he vaʻe ʻo e hōsí. Neongo ia, ʻi heʻene feinga ke fakamaʻu ʻa e sū hono faá, naʻá ne fakatokangaʻi ʻoku siʻisiʻi e faʻó.

Naʻá ne talaange leva ki he tamaioʻeikí, “ʻOku ou fie maʻu ha foʻi faʻo ʻe taha pe ua, pea ʻe fie maʻu ha taimi ke tuki ai kinautolu.”

Neongo ia, naʻe ʻikai toe lava ʻo faʻa tatali ʻa e tamaioʻeikí. Naʻá ne talaange leva, “ʻOku ou fanongo he taimí ni ki he ngaahi talupité. He ʻikai ke ke lava ʻo fakaʻaongaʻi pē meʻa ʻokú ke maʻú?”

Tali ange ʻe he tufunga ukameá te ne fai pē hono lelei tahá ka he ʻikai ke ne lava ʻo fakapapauʻi pe ʻe fuʻu maʻu fēfē ʻa e foʻi faʻo hono faá.

Tuʻutuʻuni ange leva ʻe he tamaioʻeikí, “Fai mo tuki. Pea fakavavevave, telia naʻa houhau e Tuʻi ko Lisiaté kiate kitaua fakatouʻosi.”

Naʻe ʻikai fuoloa kuo kamata ʻa e taú. Naʻe heka atu ʻa Lisiate ʻo hifo atu ki he malaʻe taú ke fakalotolahiʻi ʻene kau sōtiá, ʻo tau mo fakalotolahiʻi kinautolu ʻaki e kalanga, “Vilitaki atu! Vilitaki atu!”

Ka ʻi he vakai atu ʻa Lisiate ki he malaʻe taú, naʻá ne fakatokangaʻi ʻoku holomui ha niʻihi ʻo ʻene kau sōtiá. Naʻe talua atu ʻene hōsí ki he feituʻu naʻe kamata holomui ai ʻene kau sōtiá, ʻi heʻene manavasiʻi naʻa kamata mo ʻene kau sōtia kehé ke holomui, ke ne fakalotolahiʻi kinautolu ke nau tau. Ka, ki muʻa pea aʻu atu ʻa Lisiate kiate kinautolú, ne humu ʻene hōsí ʻo tō, pea tō ai ʻa e tuʻí ki he kelekelé. Naʻe homo ha sū ʻe taha ʻo e hōsí, ʻo hangē ko e manavasiʻi ʻa e tufunga ukameá, ʻi he lolotonga ʻo e talua atu e hoosi ʻa e tuʻí.

Naʻe puna hake ʻa Lisiate mei he kelekelé ʻi he tuʻu ʻene hōsí ʻo lelé. ʻI he laka mai e kautau ʻa Henelií, ne hiki māʻolunga ʻe Lisiate ʻene heletaá ki ʻolunga, mo kaila, “Ha hoosi! Ha hoosi! Te u fetongi hoku puleʻangá ke maʻu mai ha hoosi!”

Ka naʻe fuʻu tōmui. ʻI he taimi ko iá, ne ʻosi hola e kau sōtia ʻa Lisiatée ʻi heʻenau ilifia he lakamai ʻa e kau tau ʻa Henelií, pea kuo ulungia e taú. Talu mei he taimi ko iá mo hono leaʻaki ʻe he kakaí ʻa e palōveape:

Ne homo ha sū, ko e ʻikai ha foʻi faʻó,

Ne mole ha hoosi ko e fie maʻu ha suú,

Ne ulungia e taú, ko e fie maʻu ha hōsí,

Ne mole ha puleʻanga ko e ulungia he taú

Pea ko e tupu kotoa ia he ʻikai ha foʻi faʻo ki he sū ʻo e hōsí.1

Ko Hono Fakamaʻu ʻEtau Ngaahi Tefitoʻi Moʻoní

ʻI heʻeku fakakaukau ki he talanoa ko ʻení, ʻoku ou fakakaukau ki he lava ʻe ha faʻahinga meʻa siʻisiʻi hangē ko ha foʻi faʻo ne ʻikai fakamaʻu lelei ʻi ha sū ʻo ha hoosi, ke ne liliu e hisitōliá.

Ko e hā ha ngaahi ngāue ʻoku ʻikai fakahoko ʻi heʻetau moʻuí mo hotau ngaahi fāmilí? ʻOku tau fakaliʻeliʻaki e lotu fakafoʻituituí pe lotu fakafāmilí? ʻA e ako faivelenga ʻo e folofolá? ʻA e efiafi fakafāmili ʻi ʻapi maʻu peé? ʻA e totongi kakato ʻo e vahehongofulú? ʻA e tokoni ki hotau ngaahi tokouá mo e tuofāfiné? ʻA e tauhi ʻo e Sāpaté ke māʻoniʻoní? ʻA e lotu ʻi he temipalé? ʻA e ʻofa ki hotau kaungāʻapí?

Te tau takitaha lava ʻo vakaiʻi ʻetau moʻuí ʻo ʻilo ʻa e meʻa ʻoku ʻikai ke tau fakahokó—pe ko e hā ʻa e tefitoʻi moʻoni pe ngāue ʻoku fie maʻu ke tau fakamaʻu ke maʻu ange ʻi heʻetau moʻuí pea ʻi hotau ngaahi fāmilí. Pea, ka hili ʻetau ʻiloʻi e tefitoʻi moʻoni pe ngāue ko iá, te tau lava ʻo ngāue faivelenga mo loto fakamāatoato ke fakamaʻu ʻa e foʻi faʻó—ke moʻui kakato ʻaki e tefitoʻi moʻoni ko iá pea mo teuteu lelei ange kitautolu mo hotau ngaahi fāmilí ke taukaveʻi e meʻa ʻoku totonú.

ʻOfa te tau manatuʻi ʻe tatau ai pē kapau “ʻoku teuteu ʻa e hōsí ki he ʻaho ʻo e taú,” hangē ko hono fakamatalaʻi ʻe he Lea Fakatātaá, “ka ʻoku mei [he ʻEikí] ʻa e faʻa ikuná” (21:31). ʻOfa te tau muimui he fakaafe ʻa Molonaí ke “haʻu kia Kalaisi, pea hoko ʻo haohaoa ʻiate ia” (Molonai 10:32). Pea ʻofa te tau mateuteu, ʻaki haʻatau falala ki he Fakamoʻuí, ʻa ia ko e ʻEiki ʻo e ngaahi kautaú, kae ʻikai tūkia ʻi he malaʻe taú ʻi hono tauʻi ʻo e koví.
