Jesus Teaches the People
Helping them learn His gospel
The people in the Americas were happy to see Jesus Christ and hear Him teach. They had been waiting many years for the Savior to come.
Jesus taught them many of the same things He taught the people near Jerusalem. He taught them to have faith, repent, and be baptized. If people did these things, God would send them the Holy Ghost. Jesus taught them how to pray. He asked them to forgive others. He wanted them to be an example to others.
3 Nephi 11:31–39; 12:22–24, 44; 13:5–14; 17:8; 18:15–24
Jesus told the people to go home and pray to God to help them understand what He had taught them. He said He would come back the next day.
That night, the people told others that they had seen Jesus. They talked about what He had said and done. Many people traveled all night to see Jesus.
The next day, the people gathered with Jesus’s twelve disciples. The disciples taught the people everything Jesus had taught. They knelt on the ground and prayed.
Then Jesus came. He prayed for His disciples and for the people. The disciples prayed too. They began to shine as bright as the Savior. Jesus was happy. The disciples had become pure because of their faith in Him. Jesus prayed again, and the people heard Him say amazing things.
For the next few days, Jesus taught the people many things about Heavenly Father’s plan. He also shared the sacrament with them. All of the people in the land believed in Jesus Christ and were baptized. They received the gift of the Holy Ghost.
The people helped each other and shared everything they had. They did everything Jesus commanded them to do. They were called the Church of Christ. Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ were very happy with the people.
