Elder D. Todd Christofferson

ʻOku mahino ʻoku kau ʻi hono manatuʻi ʻo e Fakamoʻuí ʻa e manatu ki Heʻene Fakaleleí, ʻa ia ʻoku fakataipe ʻe he maá mo e vaí ʻa ʻEne mamahí mo e pekiá. Kuo pau ke ʻoua ʻaupito naʻa ngalo ʻiate kitautolu ʻa e meʻa naʻá Ne fai maʻatautolú, he ka ne taʻe ʻoua ʻEne Fakaleleí mo e Toetuʻú, he ʻikai ha ʻuhinga ʻo e moʻuí. Ka ʻi Heʻene Fakaleleí mo e Toetuʻú, ʻoku ʻi ai leva e tuʻunga taʻengata mo fakalangi ʻe lava ke aʻusia ʻe heʻetau moʻuí.

1. Fekumi ke ʻilo e finangalo ʻo Kalaisí pea muimui ki ai ʻo hangē ko ʻEne fekumi ki he finangalo ʻo e Tamaí.

ʻOku fakatukupaaʻi kitautolu ʻe he lotu tāpuakiʻi ʻo e maá ʻi he sākalamēnití ke tau loto fiemālie ke toʻo kiate kitautolu ʻa e huafa ʻo e ʻAló “pea manatu maʻu ai pē kiate ia mo tauhi ʻene ngaahi fekau ʻa ia kuó ne tuku kiate [kitautolú]” (T&F 20:77). ʻE feʻunga foki ke lau ʻa e fuakavá ni ʻo pehē ke “manatu mau ai pē kiate Ia ke tauhi ʻEne ngaahi fekaú.”

Naʻe folofola ʻa Sīsū ʻo kau ki he Tamaí, ʻo pehē, “ ʻOku ou fai maʻu ai pē ʻa e ngaahi meʻa ʻoku lelei[ʻia] ai iá” (Sione 8:29). Naʻe aʻu ki hono fakamoʻulaloaʻi ʻe Sīsū Ia ki he maté he ko e finangalo ia ʻo e Tamaí, ʻo “folo hifo ʻe he finangalo ʻo e ʻAló ʻe he finangalo ʻo e Tamaí” (Mōsaia 15:7). Ko e taha ʻo e ngaahi tefitoʻi ʻuhinga naʻe mahino mo mālohi ai ʻa e ngāue ʻa Sīsuú ko ʻEne tokanga taha ki he Tamaí.

ʻE lava ke tau fokotuʻu ʻa Kalaisi ko e uho ʻo ʻetau moʻuí ʻi he founga tatau pea tau hoko ʻo taha pē mo Ia ʻo hangē ko ʻEne taha mo e Tamaí. (vakai, Sione 17:20–23). Te tau lava ʻo kamata ʻaki hono toʻo e meʻa hono kotoa pē mei heʻetau moʻuí pea toe fakafoki ia ʻo fokotuʻutuʻu fakatatau ki honau mahuʻingá, ʻo uho ʻaki ʻa e Fakamoʻuí. ʻOku totonu ke tau ʻuluaki fokotuʻutuʻu maau e ngaahi meʻa ko ia ʻe lava ke tau manatu maʻu ai pē kiate Iá—ʻa e lotú mo e ako folofola maʻu peé, ako mo fakakaukau ki he ngaahi akonaki ʻa e kau ʻaposetoló, teuteu fakauike ke maʻu ʻa e sākalamēnití ʻi he moʻui taau, lotu ʻi he Sāpaté, pea mo hono hiki mo manatua e meʻa kuo akoʻi kiate kitautolu ʻe he Laumālié mo ia ʻoku tau aʻusiá ʻo fekauʻaki mo e tuʻunga fakaākongá.

Te ke manatuʻi mo ha ngaahi meʻa kehe ʻe feʻunga mo koe ʻi he taimi ko ʻení ʻi hoʻo moʻuí. Ko ʻetau maʻu pē ha taimi mo ha founga feʻunga ki he ngaahi meʻá ni ʻi heʻetau ʻai ke hoko ʻa Kalaisi ko e uho ʻo ʻetau moʻuí, ʻe lava leva ke tau kamata tānaki mai ki ai mo ha ngaahi fatongia pea mo e ngaahi meʻa mahuʻinga kehe, hangē ko e akó mo e ngaahi fatongia fakafāmilí. He ʻikai leva tekeʻi ʻe he ngaahi meʻa ʻoku meimei lelei peé e ngaahi meʻa ʻoku mahuʻingá mei heʻetau moʻuí, pea ʻe holo hifo ki lalo e ngaahi meʻa ʻoku siʻi ange honau mahuʻingá pe ko haʻanau puli atu ai pē.

ʻOku ou ʻilo ʻoku ʻikai ko ha meʻa faingofua ke fakatatau hotau lotó ki he finangalo ʻo Sīsū Kalaisí ʻo hangē ko ʻEne fakatatau Hono finangaló ki he finangalo ʻo e Tamaí. Naʻe mahino kia Palesiteni Pilikihami ʻIongi (1801–77) ʻa e faingataʻa ʻoku tau fehangahangai mo iá ʻi heʻene pehē:

“Ka hili hono lea ʻaki pe fai ʻa e meʻa kotoa pē, hili ʻEne tataki fuoloa ʻa e kakaí ni, ʻoku mou pehē ʻoku hōloa nai e loto falala ki hotau ʻOtuá? Te mou lava nai ʻo fakakaukau ki ai ʻiate kimoutolu? Ko e hā nai hono ʻuhingá? Koeʻuhí he ʻoku ʻikai te u maʻu ʻa e mālohi, tuʻunga he ngaahi nunuʻa kuó u maʻu ʻi he hingá. …

“… ʻOku tupukoso hake ʻi hoku lotó, he taimi ʻe niʻihi, ha meʻa ʻokú ne fokotuʻu ha ʻā vahevahe ʻi hoku lotó mo e finangalo ʻo ʻeku Tamai Hēvaní; ko e meʻa ʻokú ne ngaohi hoku lotó ke ʻoua ʻe taha mo e finagalo ʻo ʻeku Tamai Hēvaní.

“[ʻOku ou ʻilo] ʻoku totonu ke tau ongoʻi pea mahino kiate kitautolu, neongo ʻa e meʻa kotoa pē, ka ʻoku hoko ʻa e finangalo ʻo e ʻOtua ko ia ʻoku tau tauhi ki aí ko hotau lotó pē ia, pea ʻoku ʻikai ke ʻi ai mo ha toe meʻa kehe, ʻi he moʻuí ni pe ʻi he taʻengatá.”1

Neongo he ʻikai faingofua, ka ʻe lava ke tau vilitaki atu maʻu pē ki muʻa ʻi he tui ki he ʻEikí.

Te ta fie maʻu ʻa e meʻafoaki ʻo e faʻa ʻiloʻiló.” Kuo ʻikai ke ne liʻaki ʻa e teuteu mahuʻinga tahá, ko ha lotu ke fakatapui e meʻa te ma fakahokó ki heʻema leleí pea mo e nāunauʻia ʻo e ʻEikí.

ʻOku fakamahino mai ʻe he folofolá ʻe ʻi ai ha ʻaho lahi ʻo e fakamāú ʻi he taimi ʻe tuʻu ai ʻa e ʻEikí ke fakamāuʻi e ngaahi puleʻangá (vakai, 3 Nīfai 27:16) mo e taimi ʻe peluki ai ʻa e tui kotoa pē pea vete ʻe he ʻelelo kotoa pē ko Ia ʻa e Kalaisí (vakai, Loma 14:11; Mōsaia 27:31; T&F 76:110). ʻOku fakamatalaʻi ʻe ʻAlamā ʻa e natula fakafoʻituitui mo hono lahi ʻo e fakamaau ko iá ʻi he Tohi ʻa Molomoná:

“He ʻe fakahalaiaʻi kitautolu ʻe heʻetau ngaahi leá, ʻio, ʻe fakahalaiaʻi kitautolu ʻe heʻetau ngaahi ngāue kotoa; ʻe ʻikai lau ʻa kitautolu ʻoku taʻe-ha-mele; pea ʻe fakahalaiaʻi ʻa kitautolu foki ʻe heʻetau ngaahi fakakaukaú; pea ʻi he tuʻunga fakamanavahē ko iá ʻe ʻikai te tau loto-toʻa ke sio hake ki hotau ʻOtuá; pea te tau fie fiefia ʻo kapau te tau lava ʻo fekau ki he ngaahi maká mo e ngaahi moʻungá ke holo hifo kiate kitautolu ke fūfuuʻi ʻa kitautolu mei hono ʻaó.

“Ka ʻe ʻikai lava ke pehē; he kuo pau ke tau ō mai ʻo tutuʻu ʻi hono ʻaó ʻi hono nāunaú, mo hono mālohí, mo hono māfimafí, mo e ngeiá, pea mo e pule aoniú, ʻo fakamoʻoniʻi hotau fakamaaʻi taʻengatá ʻoku totonu ʻa ʻene ngaahi fakamaau kotoa pē; pea ʻokú ne angatonu ʻi heʻene ngaahi ngāue kotoa pē, pea ʻokú ne ʻaloʻofa ki he fānau ʻa e tangatá, pea ʻoku ʻiate ia ʻa e māfimafi kotoa pē ke fakamoʻui ʻa e tangata fulipē ʻoku tui ki hono huafá ʻo fua ʻaki ʻa e fua ʻoku ngali mo e fakatomalá” (ʻAlamā 12:14–15).

ʻI hono fakaʻuhingaʻi ʻe he Fakamoʻuí ʻa ʻEne ongoongoleleí, ko e tefitoʻi konga mahuʻinga ʻo e ongoongoleleí ʻa e fakamaau ko ʻení. Naʻá Ne folofola:

“Vakai kuó u ʻoatu kiate kimoutolu ʻa ʻeku ongoongoleleí, pea ko e ongoongolelei ʻeni ʻa ia kuó u ʻoatu kiate kimoutolú—kuó u haʻu ki he māmaní ke fai ʻa e finangalo ʻo ʻeku Tamaí, koeʻuhí naʻe fekauʻi au ʻe heʻeku Tamaí.

“Pea naʻe fekauʻi au ʻe heʻeku Tamaí koeʻuhí ke hiki hake au ki he kolosí; pea ka hili hono hiki hake au ki he kolosí, ke u tohoakiʻi ʻa e kakai fulipē kiate au, pea hangē hono hiki hake au ʻe he tangatá, ke pehē hono hiki hake ʻa e tangatá ʻe he Tamaí, ke nau tuʻu ʻi hoku ʻaó, ke fakamāuʻi ʻi heʻenau ngaahi ngāué, pe ʻoku lelei ia pe kovi—

Ko e fakataipe pē foki ʻa e “hiki hake ki he kolosí” ʻa ia naʻe ʻuhinga ki he Fakalelei ʻa Sīsū Kalaisí, naʻá Ne fakafiemālieʻi ai ʻa e ngaahi fie maʻu ʻa e fakamaau totonú kiate kitautolu takitaha. ʻI hono fakalea ʻe tahá, ʻi Heʻene mamahi pea pekia ʻi Ketisemani mo Kolokotá, naʻá Ne totongi ai ki he ngaahi fie maʻu ʻa e fakamaau totonú koeʻuhí ko ʻetau ngaahi angahalá. Ko ia ai ʻokú Ne tuʻu ʻi he tuʻunga ʻo e fakamaau totonú pea ʻokú Ne fakafofonga ʻa e fakamaau totonú. Naʻá Ne folofola, “He vakai, ko au, ko e ʻOtuá, kuó u kātakiʻi ʻa e ngaahi meʻá ni maʻá e kakai kotoa pē, koeʻuhí ke ʻoua naʻa nau mamahi ʻo kapau te nau fakatomala, ka ʻo kapau ʻe ʻikai te nau fakatomala kuo pau ke nau mamahi ʻo hangē pē ko aú” (T&F 19:16–17).

Ko ia ai, ʻoku ʻuhinga ʻa e manatu maʻu ai pē kiate Iá ki hono manatuʻi maʻu pē ʻoku ʻikai puli ha meʻa meiate Ia. ʻOku ʻikai lava ke fūfuuʻi mei he Tamaí mo e ʻAló ha konga ʻo ʻetau moʻuí, pe ko e ngāue, lea, pe fakakaukau. ʻOku ʻikai taʻeʻiloʻi pe taʻefakatokangaʻi, ha kākā ʻi ha sivi, ha kaihaʻa mei falekoloa, ha holi kovi pe fakahōhōloto, pe ha loi.
