Mou Omi, Ke Tau Hū Kiate Ia

Mei he lea ʻi ha fakatahaʻanga lotu, “A Child Is Born [Kuo ʻAloʻi Mai Ha Tama],” naʻe fai he ʻaho 9 ʻo Tīsema 2008, ʻi he ʻUnivēsiti Pilikihami ʻIongí. Ke maʻu kakato ʻi he lea Faka-Pilitāniá, ʻalu ki he speeches.byu.edu.

ʻEletā Bruce D. Porter

Tatau ai pē pe ko e hā ʻokú ne haʻi kitautolú—angahalá, tūkungá, pe meʻa ne hoko he kuo hilí—kuo hāʻele mai ʻa e ʻEiki ko Sīsū Kalaisí, ʻa ʻImānuela maʻongoʻonga, ke fakatauʻatāinaʻi kitauolu.

Naʻe kikiteʻi hono ʻaloʻi ʻo Sīsū Kalaisí ʻe he palōfita ko ʻĪsaiá ʻi ha taʻu ʻe 700 tupu kimuʻa pea ʻaloʻi Iá, ʻi he ngaahi lea fakangalongataʻa ʻa Siaosi Feletiliki Haniteli (George Frideric Handel) heʻene hiva Ko e Mīsaiá: “He kuo fanauʻi kiate kitautolu ʻa e tamasiʻi, kuo foaki kiate kitautolu ʻa e foha: pea ʻe ʻi hono umá ʻa e pule: pea ʻe ui hono huafá ko Fakaofo, ko Akonaki, ko e ʻOtua Māfimafi, ko e Tamai Taʻengata, ko e ʻEiki ʻo e Melino” (ʻĪsaia 9:5).

ʻOku toe ʻomi foki ʻe he hiva ʻa Haniteli ko e Mīsaiá ke lāngilangiʻia fakamūsika e naʻinaʻi ko ʻení, ʻo makatuʻunga ʻi he ʻĪsaia 40:9: “ʻA koe, ʻoku ʻomi ʻa e ongoongoleleí ki Saioné, … ʻa koe ʻoku ʻomi ʻa e ongoongoleleí ki Selusalemá, hiki hake ho leʻó ʻi he mālohi; hiki hake ia ke ʻoua ʻe manavahē; ke ke pehē ki he ngaahi kolo ʻo Siutá, Vakai ki homou ʻOtuá!”1

Vakai ki homou ʻOtuá, naʻe ʻaloʻi ko ha valevale ʻi Pētelihema pea kofukofu ʻaki ha tupenu. Vakai ki homou ʻOtuá, kuo ʻaloʻi masiva mo māʻulalo ke Ne lava ʻo hāʻele ʻi he lotolotonga ʻo e kakai māʻulaló ko e tokotaha tuʻa. Vakai ki homou ʻOtuá, naʻa mo e Huhuʻi taʻe-fakangatangata mo taʻengatá, kuo kofu ʻaki ʻa e kakanó mo hāʻele mai ke ʻafio ʻi he māmani kuó Ne fakatupú.

Foki muʻa mo au ki he ʻuluaki Kilisimasi toputapu ʻi Pētelihemá ke tau fakalaulaulotoa hono ʻaloʻi hotau ʻEikí. Naʻe hāʻele mai ʻi he lōngonoa ʻo e poó, ʻi he vahevahengamālie ʻo taimí, ʻa Ia ko e ʻImanuelá (vakai, ʻĪsaia 7:14), ko e Aka ʻo Sese (vakai, ʻĪsaia 11:1), ko e Hengihengi ʻo e ʻAhó (vakai, Luke 1:78), ko e ʻEiki Māfimafi (vakai, 2 Kolinitō 6:18). Naʻe fakaʻilongaʻi ʻe Hono ʻaloʻí ʻa e ʻaʻahi ne talaʻofa ʻe he Tupuʻangá ki māmaní, ko e afeitaulalo ʻa e ʻOtuá ki he tangatá (vakai, 1 Nīfai 11:16–27). Hangē ko ia ne tohi ʻe ʻĪsaia he meʻa ne hokó, “Ko e kakai naʻe ʻaʻeva ʻi he poʻulí kuo mamata ki he maama lahi: ko kinautolu naʻe nofo ʻi he fonua ʻo e ʻata ʻo e maté, kuo ulo kiate kinautolu ʻa e māmá” (ʻĪsaia 9:1).

ʻOku tau ʻilo mei he fakahā ʻo onopōní naʻe hāʻele mai ki māmani ʻa e Tuʻi ʻo ʻIsileli naʻe tomuʻa fakanofó ʻi he taimi failaú (vakai, T&F 20:1). Naʻe kikite ʻa Maika ʻe ʻaloʻi Ia ʻi Pētelihema—“[ko e] siʻi hifo ʻi he ngaahi tokoafe ʻo Siutá” (Maika 5:2). Naʻe tuʻu e kiʻi kolo ʻe ʻaloʻi aí ʻi he malumalu ʻo e kolo hau ko Selusalemá, ʻa ia naʻe maile ʻe nima (kilomita ʻe 8) ki he tokelaú. Ko Selusalema ʻa e kolomuʻa ʻo Siuteá, ko e tuʻuʻanga ʻo e temipalé mo e uhouhonga e mālohi ʻo Lomá. Ko Pētelihemá ko ha kolo tukuʻuta, naʻe ngoue mo tauhi monumanu. Ko e meʻa pē ne ʻiloa aí he naʻe fāʻeleʻi ʻa Tēvita ai, ko e tuʻi he kuonga muʻá ʻo ʻIsileli, ʻa ia ʻe ʻaloʻi mai ʻi hono hakó ʻa Kalaisi; ko ia, naʻe angamaheni ʻaki ke ʻiloa e kiʻi koló ko e Kolo ʻo Tēvitá. Ko hono hingoa faka-Hepeluú, Peta Likemi, ko hono ʻuhingá ko e “fale mā,”2 ko ha hingoa naʻe ʻikai hano fuʻu mahuʻinga fēfē kae tālunga hono ʻaloʻi ai ʻo Ia ʻe ʻiloa ko e Mā ʻo e Moʻuí.

Naʻe hoko e ngaahi ngoueʻanga takatakai ʻi Pētelihemá ko ha nofoʻanga ki ha ngaahi tākanga sipi lahi, pea ʻi he kamataʻanga ʻo e faʻahitaʻu failaú, ko e taimi fāʻeleʻi angamaheni ia ʻo e fanga sipí. ʻOku ʻā ʻa e kau tauhi sipí ʻi he poó kakato, ʻo tokangaʻi ʻenau fanga sipí ʻi he pō langimaʻá; ko ia, naʻe ʻikai toe fie maʻu ai ʻe he kau āngelo naʻa nau talaki hono ʻaloʻi ʻo e Fakamoʻuí ke fafangu kinautolu.

Ko e Lami ʻa e ʻOtuá

ʻOku ʻiloa ʻa e tamasiʻi valevale naʻe tūʻuta mai he faʻahtaʻu faʻēleʻí ko e “Lami ʻa e ʻOtuá” (Sione 1:29; 1 Nīfai 11:31; T&F 88:106). Ko ha hingoa ia ʻoku mahuʻinga fau, he naʻá Ne tūʻuta mai mo e fanga lamí pea ʻe “tataki ia [ʻi ha ʻaho] ʻo hangē ko e lami ke tamateʻi” (ʻĪsaia 53:7). Ka, ʻi he tafaʻaki ʻe tahá, naʻe hoko foki Ia ko e Tauhisipi Leleí (vakai, Sione 10:11), ko ha taha ʻokú Ne tokangaʻi ʻa e fanga lamí. ʻI heʻene peheé, ʻoku fakafofongaʻi ʻe he ongo fakataipe ko ʻeni ʻo ʻEne moʻuí ʻa kinautolu ʻoku tokoní mo kinautolu ʻoku tokoniʻí. Naʻe taau pē ke fakahoko ʻe Kalaisi ʻa e ongo fatongiá fakatouʻosi, he ʻi he moʻuí, naʻá ne “hāʻele hifo ki lalo ʻi he ngaahi meʻa kotoa pē” (T&F 88:6), pea ʻi ʻitānití, ʻe “hāʻele hake ki ʻolunga” pea ʻokú ne ʻafioʻi ʻa e ngaahi meʻa kotoa pē pea “ʻokú ne takatakai ʻi he ngaahi meʻa kotoa pē” (T&F 88:6, 41). Naʻá Ne ʻafioʻi ʻa e moʻuí mei he tafaʻaki mo e tuliki kotoa pē, ʻi ʻolunga pea ʻi lalo. Ko Ia naʻe hoko ko e Lahí naʻá Ne ʻai ia ko e siʻi taha—Ko e Tauhisipi Fakalangi naʻe hoko ko e Lamí.

Naʻe ʻikai hoko ʻEne hāʻele maí ko hano fāʻeleʻi pē ʻo ha palōfita maʻongoʻonga, pe hoko mai ʻa ha ʻea-hoko ne talaʻofa ki he taloni fakatuʻí, pe ko ha aʻu mai pē ʻa e tokotaha haohaoa pē taha kuo faifaiangé peá ne fonongaʻia ʻa e māmaní. Ko e hāʻele mai ia ʻa e ʻOtua ʻo e langí “[ke fonongaʻia hono tuʻunga vaʻé pea meimei tatau mo e tangatá].”3

Ko Sīsū Kalaisi ʻa e Tupuʻanga ʻo e māmaní mo e Sihova Maʻongoʻonga ʻo e Fuakava Motuʻá. Ko Hono leʻó naʻe ongona ʻi he Moʻunga ko Sainaí, ko Hono mālohí naʻá ne tauhi ʻa ʻIsileli kuo filí ʻi heʻene hē fanó, mo ʻEne ʻafió naʻe fakahā kia ʻĪnoke, ʻĪsaia, mo e kau palōfita kotoa ʻa e nāunau ʻo e ngaahi meʻa ʻe hokó. Pea ʻoku ʻi ai e mana maʻongoʻonga taha ʻo e ʻAloʻí: ko e taimi ia naʻe fuofua fakahā ai ʻe he ʻOtua mo e Tupuʻanga ʻo e langí mo e māmaní Ia ʻi he māmaní, naʻá Ne fili ke fai ia ko ha valevale—ngāvaivai mo fakafalala.

Naʻe pehē ʻe ha tukufakaholo faka-Hepelū he kuonga muʻá ʻe ʻaloʻi ʻa e Mīsaiá ʻi he Lakaatú. ʻOku tau ʻiloʻi ko e moʻoni ko ʻĒpeleli ʻi he vahevahengamālie ʻo taimí ne hoko ia ʻhe uike ʻo e kātoanga ʻo e Lakaatú—ʻa e fakamanatua toputapu ʻe he kau Siú hono fakahaofi ʻo ʻIsileli mei he ʻāngelo faifakaʻauha naʻá ne ʻomi e maté ki he ngaahi foha lahi ʻo ʻIsipité. Ko e fāmili ʻIsileli kotoa pē naʻá ne feilaulauʻi ha lami mo vali ʻaki hono totó e kaumatapā honau fale nofoʻangá naʻe fakahaofi (vakai, ʻEkesōtosi 12:3–30). Hili ha taʻu ʻe tolungofulu mei he Lakaatu ʻo e ʻaloʻi ʻo Kalaisí, naʻe vali ʻaki hono taʻataʻá ʻa e pou ʻo ha kolosí ke fakahaofi Hono kakaí mei he kau ʻāngelo faifakaʻauha ʻo e maté mo e angahalá.

Mahalo ko e kātoanga Lakaatú ʻa e ʻuhinga ʻo e ʻikai ha loki ʻe ʻatā ʻi he fale talifonongá kia Mele mo Siosefá. Naʻe fakangofua ʻe he fie maʻu ʻo e tohi kakaí ke nau ō ki Selusalema ʻi ha faʻahinga taimi pē he lolotonga e taʻú, ka ʻoku ngalingali naʻa nau fili ʻa e faʻahitaʻu Lakaatú koeʻuhí he naʻe fie maʻu ʻe he fono ʻa Mōsesé ʻa e tangata kotoa ke ō ki Selusalema ʻi he Lakaatú.4 Koeʻuhí naʻe tuʻu ʻa Pētelihema ʻo hoko atu pē he Kolo Tapú, ʻe lava ai ha ongomātuʻa mei Nāsaleti ke fakahoko ha meʻa ʻe ua he taimi pē taha.

Kuo hoko ʻa e tauhi ʻo e fale talifonongá ʻi he hisitōliá ko ha taha taʻe-manakoa. Ka ʻi heʻetau fakakaukau ki he fuʻu tokolahi ʻa e vāhengá ʻi he lolotonga ʻo e Lakaatú, he ʻikai ke tau lava ʻo tukuakiʻi ia ʻi he ʻikai ha loki ke ʻoange ki he ongomātuʻa mali mei Nāsaletí.

Mei he Tauʻatāiná ki he Nofo Pōpulá

Naʻe hiki ʻe he palōfita ko ʻĪsaiá ʻi he taʻu ʻe fitungeau kimuʻa ʻi he ʻuluaki Kilisimasi ko iá, ha kikite fakamīsaia naʻe lau kimui ʻe he Fakamoʻuí ki Hono kaungā kolo ʻi Nasaletí: “ʻOku ʻiate au ʻa e Laumālie ʻo e ʻEikí; koeʻuhí kuo fakanofo au ʻe [he ʻEikí] ke u malanga ʻaki ʻa e ongoongoleleí ki he angamaluú; kuó ne fekau au ke nonoʻo ʻa e loto mafesí, ke fakahā ʻa e tauʻatāiná ki he kau pōpulá, pea ke fakaava ʻa e fale fakapōpulá kiate kinautolu kuo haʻisiá” (ʻĪsaia 61:1; vakai foki, Luke 4:18–19).

Ko e taimi ʻoku tau lau ai e misiona ʻo Kalaisí ke talaki e tauʻatāiná ki he pōpulá mo fakaava ʻa e fale fakapōpulá kiate kinautolu ʻoku haʻisiá, mahalo te tau ʻuluaki fakakaukau ki Heʻene ngāue ʻi he maama tataliʻanga ʻo e ngaahi laumālié ʻi he lotolotonga ʻo e kau pekiá. Ka ʻoku tau nofo pōpula kotoa—pōpula ki he faihalá mo e vaivai ʻo e sino fakamatelié mo moʻulaloa ki he ngaahi ʻahiʻahi ʻo e kakanó, mahamahakí, pea fakaiku, ki he maté—pea ʻoku tau fie maʻu kotoa ke fakatauʻatāinaʻi kitautolu.

Tatau ai pē pe ko e hā ʻokú ne haʻi kitautolú—angahalá, tūkungá, pe ngaahi meʻa ʻi he kuo hilí—kuo hāʻele mai ʻa e ʻEiki ko Sīsū Kalaisí, ʻa ʻImānuela maʻongoʻonga, ke fakatauʻatāinaʻi kitauolu. ʻOkú Ne malangaʻi ʻa e tauʻatāiná ki he nofopōpulá mo e tauʻatāina mei he ngaahi haʻi ʻo e maté mo e pōpula ʻo e angahalá, taʻe-ʻiló, hīkisiá, mo e fehalākí. Naʻe kikiteʻi te Ne folofola ki he kau pōpulá, “ʻAlu atu” (ʻĪsaia 49:9). Ko e meʻa pē taha naʻe fie maʻu ki heʻetau tauʻatāiná ke tau haʻu kiate Ia ʻi he loto mafesifesi mo e laumālie fakatomala, ʻo fakatomala mo feinga ke fai Hono finangaló.

Naʻá ku fetaulaki ʻi he taʻu nai ʻe 30 kuo hilí mo ha tangata te u ui pē ko Tōmasi. Naʻá ne taʻu 45 ʻi he taimi naʻá ku fetaulaki ai mo iá. Naʻe kau ʻene ongomātuʻá ki he Siasí ʻi he taʻu ʻe uofulu kimuʻá. Naʻe ʻikai mahuʻingaʻia ʻa Tōmasi ʻi he tui fakalotu foʻou ʻene ongomātuʻá. Ka naʻe ʻofa ʻene ongomātuʻá ʻiate ia, mo tukulotoʻi ʻena fakaʻamu ʻe lava ʻena tamasiʻí ʻi ha ʻaho ʻo ʻilo ʻa e moʻoni ʻo e ongoongolelei kuo toe fakafoki maí. ʻI he fakalau atu ʻa e ngaahi taʻú, naʻá na feinga tā-tuʻolahi ke fakalotoʻi ia ke kiʻi talanoa pē mo e kau faifekaú mo fanongo ki heʻenau pōpoakí. Naʻá ne toutou fakafisingaʻi, mo manukiʻi ʻene ongomātuʻá koeʻuhí ko ʻena tui fakalotú.

ʻI ha ʻaho ʻe taha ne holiholivale ai ʻene faʻeé peá ne talaange, “Tōmasi, kapau te ke fanongo tuʻo taha pē ki he lēsoni fakafaifekaú, he ʻikai ke u toe teitei lea atu kiate koe fekauʻaki mo e Siasí.” Naʻe fakakaukau ʻa Tōmasi ko ha alea lelei ʻeni pea loto leva ke talanoa mo e kau faifekaú. Naʻe tangutu pē ʻi he lolotonga ʻo e ʻuluaki lēsoni ʻe tolú, fonu hīkisia, peá ne faʻa fakakata ʻaki e meʻa naʻe akoʻi ʻe he ongo faifekaú.

ʻI he lolotonga ʻo e lēsoni hono faá, fekauʻaki mo e Fakalelei ʻa Sīsū Kalaisí pea mo e ngaahi ʻuluaki tefitoʻi moʻoni ʻo e ongoongoleleí, naʻe ʻikai ke lea ʻa Tōmasi ka naʻe fakaʻau ʻo fakalongolongo ʻaupito mo fakafanongo tokanga. Naʻe fai ʻe he ongo faifekaú ʻena fakamoʻoni ki he Fakamoʻuí ʻi he ʻosi ʻa e lēsoní. Naʻe ongoʻi ʻe ha taha ʻo e ongo faifekaú ha ueʻi ke fakaava ʻene Tohi Tapú ʻo lau e ngaahi lea ko ʻení:

“Haʻu kiate au ʻa kimoutolu kotoa pē ʻoku feinga mo mafasiá, pea te u foaki ʻa e fiemālié kiate kimoutolu.

“Toʻo ʻeku haʻamongá kiate kimoutolu, pea mou ako ʻiate au; he ʻoku ou angavaivai mo angamalū: pea te mou ʻilo ai ʻa e fiemālié ki homou laumālié” (Mātiu 11:28–29).

Naʻe fakafokifā pē kuo fākafoa ʻa Tōmasi. Naʻá ne ʻeke ange, “Ko hoʻomo feingá ke talamai ʻe lava ʻe Kalasi ʻo fakamolemoleʻi ʻeku ngaahi angahalá? Kuó u moʻui ʻi ha moʻui angahalaʻia. ʻOku ʻikai tukunoaʻi au ʻe heʻeku manatu ki heʻeku ngaahi angahalá. Te u fie fai ha meʻa pē ke fakatauʻatāinaʻi au mei heʻeku ongoʻi halaiá.”

Ne hoko ʻene hīkisiá ko ha meʻa naʻá ne fufuuʻi ha laumālie ne pōpula ki he angahalá mo e loto halaiá. Naʻe fakapapauʻi ange ʻe he ongo ʻeletaá kia Tōmasi ʻe fakamolemoleʻi ia ʻe Kalaisi mo fakatauʻatāinaʻi mei he mafasia ʻo e loto halaiá kapau ʻe fakatomala pea papitaiso mo hilifakinima. Hili ia pea fai ʻena fakamoʻoni ki he mālohi ʻo e Fakaleleí. Talu mei he momeniti ko iá mo e liliu ʻa e meʻa kotoa ʻi he moʻui ʻa Tōmasí. Naʻe lahi e meʻa ke ne fakatomalaʻi mo ikunaʻí, ka ʻi he ngaahi tāpuaki ʻa e ʻEikí, naʻe fakafeʻungaʻi ia ke papitaiso.

ʻOsi ha taʻu ʻe 20 tupu mei ai, naʻá ku tangutu ʻi he falelotu he Temipale Felengifuti Siamané, ne tafoki mai e tangata ʻuluhinā ʻi muʻa ʻiate aú ʻo pehē mai, “ʻOku ʻikai ʻapē ko ʻEletā Poota koe?” Naʻá ku fiefia lahi ʻi heʻeku fakatokangaʻi ʻa Tōmasí—ko ha tangata kuo fakatauʻatāinaʻi mei he pōpulá ʻe he mālohi ʻo Sīsū Kalaisí pea kei faivelenga ʻi he Siasi ʻo e ʻEikí.

Mahalo te tau takitaha tukupā ʻi he faʻahitaʻu Kilisimasi ko ʻení ke tau fakataufolofola ʻi he loto fakatōkilalo ki heʻetau Tamai Hēvaní ʻi he lotu mo kole ʻa e mālohi ʻo Hono ʻAlo ʻofaʻangá ke ʻiate kitautolu ʻi heʻetau fononga fakaʻahó pea mo fakatauʻatāinaʻi kitautolu mei he ngaahi pōpula fakatāutahá, tatau ai pē pe ʻoku lalahi pe iiki.
