Jesus Visits the People
Helping each person believe in Him
Many of the people would not listen to the prophets of God. But some people believed what the prophets taught. These believers waited for the signs of Jesus Christ’s death.
After Jesus died in Jerusalem, the signs began. In the Americas, there were storms, earthquakes, and fires for three hours. Cities were destroyed, and many people died. Then there was total darkness for three days.
The darkness was so thick that the people could not see the sun, moon, or stars. They could not even light fires or candles.
Many of the people who were still alive were very sad and scared. They cried and felt sorry that they had not repented sooner.
Suddenly, they heard a voice. It was Jesus speaking to them. He promised to heal everyone who repented. Jesus told them He had died and come back to life to help all people. The people were so amazed that they stopped crying. There was silence in the land for many hours.
Jesus spoke again. He told the people He would help them if they chose to follow Him. The darkness left, and the earth stopped shaking. The people were happy and praised Jesus.
About one year later, many people came to the temple in the land Bountiful. They talked about Jesus and the signs of His death. As they talked, they heard a quiet voice from heaven. At first, they could not understand it. Then they heard it again.
When they heard the voice a third time, they looked toward heaven. It was Heavenly Father speaking. He told the people to see and listen to His Son. Then the people saw a man in a white robe coming down from heaven.
The man stood among the people and said, “I am Jesus Christ.” The people fell to the ground. Jesus told them He had suffered and died for everyone. He invited the people to touch the marks in His hands, feet, and side so that they could know He is the Savior of the world.
The people came to Jesus one by one. They saw with their own eyes and felt with their own hands the marks in His hands, feet, and side. They all knew that He is the one the prophets said would come. They knew He is the Savior of the world. The people fell at the feet of Jesus and worshipped Him.
