Siʻi ngaahi tokoua ʻofeina, hono ʻikai ke tau monūʻia! ʻIkai ngata pē heʻetau kau ki he Siasí, ka ʻoku tau toe kau foki ki he Fineʻofá—“ ʻa e kautaha ʻa e ʻEikí maʻá e houʻeiki fafiné.”1 ʻOku hoko e Fineʻofá ko e fakamoʻoni ʻo e ʻofa ʻa e ʻOtuá ki Hono ngaahi ʻofefiné.

ʻIkai ʻoku fiefia homou lotó ʻi hoʻomou manatu ki he kamataʻanga fakafiefia ʻo e kautahá ni? ʻI he ʻaho 17 ʻo Māʻasi 1842, ne fokotuʻutuʻu ai ʻe he Palōfita ko Siosefa Sāmitá e houʻeiki fafiné “ ʻi he malumalu ʻo e lakanga fakataulaʻeikí ʻo fakatatau ki he founga ʻa e lakanga fakataulaʻeikí.”2

Naʻe maʻu ʻe he houʻeiki fafiné ʻa e mafai mo e fakahinohino ke fokotuʻutuʻu kinautolu “ ʻi he malumalu ʻo e lakanga fakataulaʻeikí”. Naʻe akonaki e palesiteni lahi hono ua ʻo e Fineʻofá, ʻIlaisa R. ʻI hono fokotuʻutuʻu ʻo e houʻeiki fafiné “ ʻo fakatatau mo e founga ʻa e lakanga fakataulaʻeikí”, naʻa nau maʻu ai ha ngaahi fatongia toputapu. Ne fakamatala ʻa Suli B. Peeki, ko e palesiteni lahi ʻo e Fineʻofá, ʻo pehē: “ ʻOku tau ngāue ʻo fakatatau ki he lakanga fakataulaʻeikí—ʻa ia ko hono ʻuhingá, ʻoku tau fekumi, maʻu pea ngāue ʻo fakatatau mo e fakahaá; fakahoko e ngaahi tuʻutuʻuni ʻi he ngaahi fakataha alēleá; pea fakatefito hono tokangaʻi ʻa e fakafoʻituituí. ʻOku tau maʻu ʻa e taumuʻa ʻo e lakanga fakataulaʻeikí ke teuteuʻi kitautolu ki he ngaahi tāpuaki ʻo e moʻui taʻengatá ʻaki ʻetau fakahoko pea tauhi e ngaahi fuakavá. Ko ia ai, ʻoku tau hangē ko hotau ngaahi tuongaʻane ʻoku nau maʻu ʻa e lakanga fakataulaʻeikí, ko ʻetau ngāué ko ha ngāue ʻo e fakamoʻui, ngāue tokoni pea hoko ko ha kakai māʻoniʻoni.”5
