Kau Paioniá: Ko Ha Taula ki he ʻAhó Ni
Mei ha lea ko e, “Pioneers—Anchors for the Future,” naʻe fai ʻi Soleki Siti ʻi he Sons of Utah Pioneers Sunrise Service on July 24, 2013.
Manatuʻi ʻa e kau paioniá, ʻenau ngaahi talanoá, mo e poupoú, fakahaofí, mo e mālohi fai fakahaofi ʻo e ʻOtuá naʻe hoko ange ko e tupu mei heʻenau tuí mo e ʻamanaki leleí.
ʻI he 1832, naʻe nofo ʻa Ueleta Peletifooti Hesi—ko ha kui ʻa hoku uaifi ko Selí—pea mo hono husepāniti ko ʻAilá, ʻi he kiʻi kolo ʻo Faamavila, Niu ʻIoke, USA, ofi ki he Leiki Senekaá. ʻI he ʻaʻahi ʻa e ongo faifekau ko ʻŌliva Kautele mo Paʻale P. Palati ki he ʻapi Hesí, naʻe fakatau ʻe Ueleta ha Tohi ʻa Molomona pea lau ia ʻi he taimi pē ko iá. ʻI hono fakalotoʻi ia ʻi hono moʻoní, naʻá ne kole ke papitaiso ia.
Ka neongo ia, naʻe fakatokanga hono husepānití kiate ia ke ne tatali koeʻuhí ko e fakalalahi ʻa e ngaahi fakatangá mo ha pēpē kuo mei fāʻeleʻi. Hili ha taimi nounou mei he fāʻelé, naʻe papitaiso ʻa Ueleta—ka ʻi he hili pē hono fakaava ʻa e ʻaisi ʻi he vaitafé ke fakahoko ai ʻa e ouau ʻo e papitaisó!1
Naʻe mahuʻingaʻia ʻa ʻAila ʻi he pōpoaki ʻo e ongoongoleleí.
Ko e hā naʻe lava ai ʻe ʻAisake ke liʻaki hono fonua tupuʻangá, folau he ʻŌseni ʻAtalanitikí, kolosi ʻi he ngaahi feituʻu tokaleleí, pea tānaki atu hono fakateka e tapaká ki he lisi ʻo e ngaahi meʻa kuó ne siʻakí?
Ko e mālohi tatau ia ne lava ke fakahoko ai ʻa e hola mei ʻIsipité, ʻa e hala ʻi he Tahi Kulokulá, ʻa e fononga lōloa ʻi he feituʻu maomaonganoá, pea mo e fokotuʻu ʻo ʻIsileli ʻi he Fonua ʻo e Talaʻofá.”4
Ko e tuí ko ha tefitoʻi moʻoni ia ʻo e ngāué mo e mālohí fakatouʻosi.5 “ʻOku ʻikai ko e … maʻu ha ʻilo haohaoa ki he ngaahi meʻá” (ʻAlamā 32:21). Ka, ko ha “fakamoʻoni” ʻo e Laumālié (vakai, Hepelū 11:1, futinouti b) ʻokú ne ueʻi kitautolu ke ngāue (vakai, Sēmisi 2:17–26; 2 Nīfai 25:23; ʻAlamā 34:15–17), ke muimui ʻi he Fakamoʻuí, pea tauhi kotoa ʻEne ngaahi fekaú, naʻa mo e ngaahi taimi ʻo e feilaulaú mo e ʻahiʻahí (vakai, ʻEta 12:4–6).6 Hangē ko e pau ʻa e hopo ʻa e laʻaá ʻi he pongipongí, ʻoku pehē hono ʻomi ʻe he tuí ʻa e ʻamanaki leleí—ʻa e ʻamanaki ki he ngaahi meʻa leleí ke hoko mai (vakai, Molonai 7:40–42)—mo ʻomi ʻa e mālohi ʻo e ʻEikí ke poupouʻi kitautolu.7
Kapau ko e tuí ʻa e mālohi ko ia naʻá ne ueʻi ʻetau kau paioniá, ta ko e ʻamanaki lelei ia naʻe ʻomi ʻe heʻenau tuí naʻá ne pukepuke kinautolú. Naʻe tohi ʻe Molonai ʻo pehē:
“ʻOku fakahoko ʻa e meʻa kotoa pē ʻi he tuí—
“Ko ia, ʻilonga ia ʻoku tui ki he ʻOtuá kuo pau ke ne faʻa ʻamanaki fakapapau ki ha maama ʻoku lelei ange, ʻio, ki ha nofoʻanga ʻi he toʻukupu toʻomataʻu ʻo e ʻOtuá, pea ko e ʻamanaki lelei ia ʻoku tupu mei he tuí, ʻo hoko ko ha taula ki he laumālie ʻo e tangatá, ʻa ia ʻe ngaohi ai ʻa kinautolu ke nau fai mālohi pea tuʻu maʻu, pea fonu maʻu ai pē ʻi he ngaahi ngāue leleí, ʻo langaki ʻenau fakalāngilangiʻi ʻa e ʻOtuá” (ʻEta 12:3–4).
Ko kinautolu naʻe faivelenga taʻeueʻiá, naʻe hā ʻa e mālohi ʻo e ʻOtuá ʻi ha ngaahi founga fakaofo.
Manatuʻi e kau Paioniá
Manatuʻi ʻa e kau paioniá, ʻenau ngaahi talanoá, mo e poupoú, fakahaofí, mo e mālohi fai-fakahaofi ʻo e ʻOtuá naʻe hoko mai ko e tupu mei heʻenau tuí mo e ʻamanaki leleí. ʻOku tokoni ʻetau ngaahi tamai mo e faʻē paioniá ke tau ʻiloʻi kitautolu ʻi heʻetau hoko ko ha kakai ʻo e fuakavá pea fakamoʻoniʻi ʻe tāpuekina kitautolu ʻe hotau ʻOtuá—ʻa ia kuo tau fuakava mo ia pea ʻoku “ʻikai … liliú” (Molomona 9:19)—ʻi he taimi ʻo e faingataʻá mo e ʻahiʻahí, hangē ko ia naʻá Ne fai ki heʻetau ngaahi tamai mo e faʻē paioniá.
Naʻe akoʻi ʻe ʻAlamā “[ʻe] fakahoko [ʻe he ʻOtuá] ʻa ʻene ngaahi talaʻofa kotoa pē ʻa ia te ne fai kiate [kitautolú], he kuó ne fakahoko ʻa ʻene ngaahi talaʻofa kuó ne fai ki heʻetau ngaahi tamaí” (ʻAlamā 37:17). ʻI hono ʻiloʻi ʻení, ʻe tataki fakalaumālie kitautolu ʻe he kau paioniá ke tau fai ʻa e meʻa tatau ʻi he tuí pea ke fokotuʻu maʻu ʻi he ʻamanaki leleí.
Ko e taula ʻeni ʻoku tau kumia ʻi hotau māmani faingataʻa fakaeangamaʻa, fakalaumālie, mo fakatuʻasinó: ʻo moʻui ʻaki, mo hiki ʻa e tui kia Kalaisí mo e ʻamanaki lelei ʻokú ne fokotuʻu maʻu kitautolu ʻi Hono ngaahi halá.
Kuo hoko ʻa e talanoa ʻo e kulupu toho saliote ʻo Uili mo Mātení ko ha fakataipe ia ʻo e tui mo e ʻamanaki lelei ʻo e kau fuofua paioniá. Ko ha mana ia ʻa e mate pē ha kau mēmipa nai ʻe toko 200 ʻi he kulupu ʻe toko 1,000.8 Naʻe fakahaofi ʻe he feinga fonu ʻi he tui mo e ʻamanaki lelei ʻo ʻenau kau fakahaofi moʻuí, fakataha mo e tokoni fakalangí, ʻa e ngaahi kulupu toho saliote ko ʻení.9
Hili ʻenau mavahe mei he Teleʻa Sōlekí, naʻe fepaki ʻa e kau fakahaofi moʻuí mo e ngaahi matangi mālohi tatau naʻe hoko kimuʻa, mālohi, mo fakatuʻutāmaki ʻo e faʻahitaʻu momokó naʻá ne ʻākilotoa ʻa e ngaahi kulupu toho salioté. ʻI he fehangahangai mo e ʻalotāmaki ʻo natulá, naʻe veiveiua ha niʻihi ʻo e kau fakahaofi moʻuí ʻi heʻenau tuí, siva ʻa e ʻamanaki leleí, pea nau tafoki.
ʻI he tafaʻaki ʻe tahá, naʻe nofo taʻeueʻia ʻa Letiki ʻĀleti ʻi ha ʻapitanga fakahaofi moʻui ʻi ha uike ʻe tolu ʻi he ʻea fakatuʻutāmaki ʻo e faʻahitaʻu momokó. ʻI he feinga ha tokotaha fakahaofi moʻui ʻe taha ke fakalotoʻi ʻa Misa ʻĀleti ke na fokí, ne ʻikai tali ʻe Letiki:
Naʻá ne tohi ʻi heʻene tohinoá, “Ne ʻikai ke u tali ʻene fokotuʻú, pea … faleʻi ia ke ne nofo, he naʻe fakafalala mai ʻa e moʻui ʻo e kulupú [kiate] kimautolu.” “Naʻá ne … fokotuʻu mai leva ʻi heʻeku hoko ko e palesiteni ʻo e ʻapitangá, ne fakatefito ʻenau tuí ʻiate au, pea ʻoku totonu ke u maʻu ʻa e folofola ʻa e ʻEikí ke ʻiloʻi ʻa e meʻa kuo pau ke mau faí. Ne ʻikai ke u tali ʻa e meʻá ni koeʻuhí kuo ʻosi folofola ʻaki [ʻe he ʻEikí] ʻa e meʻa te ne finangalo [ke mau] faí.”10
ʻOku fakatupu ʻe he tui taʻe toe veiveiua pehē ʻi he ngaahi taimi faingataʻá, ha kakai tangata mo fafine tui mālohi pea ʻomi mo ha fakahinohino pau, mo mālohi ʻi hono ʻākilotoa kitautolu ʻe he ngaahi pōpoaki fakapuputuʻu ʻo e māmaní. Fakakaukau angé ki he māfana naʻe ongoʻi ʻe Letiki ʻĀleti ʻi heʻene mamata ki he haʻu ʻa e kulupu toho salioté ki hono ʻapitangá. Fakakaukau angé ki he fiefia naʻe ongoʻi ʻe he kulupú ʻi heʻenau mamata kiate iá!
Manatuʻi ʻEnau Uouangatahá
Manatuʻi naʻe uouangataha kotoa ʻa e kau paioniá. Kuo ʻilo ʻe he kau faihisitōliá naʻe kehe ʻa e hiki fakahihifo ʻa e Kau Māʻoniʻoni ʻi he Ngaahi ʻAho Kimui Ní mei he hikifonua ʻo e ʻAmelika Hihifó.
“Ne nau hoko moʻoni ko e ngaahi kolo ne laka fakataha, ngaahi kolo ʻo ha angamalū, faaitaha, mo ʻulungaanga lelei ne teʻeki ongona ʻi ha feituʻu kehe ʻi he ngaahi hala fakahihifó. …
“Ko e tokosiʻi pē ʻi he kau hiki mai ki Kalefōnia mo ʻOlikoní ne nau fakakaukau ki he kakai ʻe muimui mai ʻiate kinautolú. … Kae ʻikai ko e kau Māmongá. Ko e fuofua fakakaukau ʻa e kulupu ʻo e kau paioniá ke ʻiloʻi ha ngaahi feituʻu ke fai ai ha kemí, fefie, vai, mo e musie lelei, ke fua ʻa e mamaʻó mo fokotuʻu ʻa e ngaahi pou fakaʻilonga ʻo e mamaʻó. Ne nau ngāue mo e ngaahi kulupu kimuí ke langa ha ngaahi halafakakavakava mo keli ʻa e ngaahi kolosiʻanga ʻi he vaitafé. Ne nau faʻu ha ngaahi vakavakaʻāmei mo ha ngaahi vaka pea tuku kinautolu ke fakaʻaongaʻi ʻe he ngaahi kulupu kimui angé.”11
Ko e ʻuhinga ʻo e faikehekehe ko ʻení he naʻe omi ʻa e kāingalotu ʻo e Siasí ke langa hake ʻa Saione. ʻI ha lea mahino ngofua angé, ko Saioné ko e “ʻofa ʻa e tangata kotoa pē ki hono tokouá ʻo hangē pē ko iá, pea ngāue ʻi he angamaʻa mo e māʻoniʻoni ʻi [he] ʻao [ʻo e ʻEikí]” (T&F 38:24). Naʻe hoko ʻa Saione—ko ha sosaieti mo e kakai loto taha mo fakakaukau taha, ʻo nofo ʻi he māʻoniʻoni, pea ʻikai ha masiva ʻiate kinautolu (vakai, Mosese 7:18)—ko e ola ia ʻo e “feinga ʻa e tangata kotoa pē ki he meʻa ʻoku lelei ki hono kaungāʻapí, mo fai ʻa e ngaahi meʻa kotoa pē ʻaki ʻa e mata ʻoku hanga taha pē ki hono fakalāngilangiʻi ʻo e ʻOtuá” (T&F 82:19).
Naʻe faʻu ʻe he ongo ko ʻeni ʻo e ongoʻi fakakaungākoló mo e vahevahe tataú, ha feinga faaitaha ke muimui ki he palōfita ʻa e ʻOtuá. ʻOku nau fanafana mai te tau lava foki ʻo lavameʻa ʻo fakafou ʻi he mālohi ʻo e ʻEikí ʻo aʻu pē ki he tuʻunga ʻoku tau ngāue ai mo ha ongo ʻo e fatongia fakakolo mo vahevahe tataú ʻi he muimui ki he palōfita ʻa e ʻEikí.
Vahevahe Atu ʻa e Laumālie ʻo e Paioniá
ʻOku tau fatongia ʻaki ke fakatō kakano ki heʻetau fānaú mo e makapuná ʻa e laumālie tatau naʻá ne taki e ngaahi laka ʻa e kau paioniá.
ʻI heʻene kei tamasiʻí, naʻe ʻoange kia Misa Munosa ha tatau ʻo e Tohi ʻa Molomoná ʻi he lea faka-Sipeiní.
Naʻe tangi ʻa Huani ʻĀmato, ko ha faifekau kuo foki mai, ʻi heʻemau fanongo ki he fakamatala ʻa Misa Munosa ki heʻene talanoa ʻo e tuí. ʻI he fakaʻosi e lea ʻene tamaí, naʻe pehē ʻe he foha lelei ko ʻení: “Kuó u houngaʻia maʻu pē ʻi he kau fuofua paionia ne kolosi atu ʻi he ngaahi feituʻu tokaleleí mo ʻenau ngaahi salioté ʻi ʻAmelika Noaté. Kuo ueʻi fakalaumālie au mo ongo moʻoni ʻi he kotoa ʻo ʻeku moʻuí ʻa ʻenau tuí mo e mateakí mo e līʻoá. Ka ʻoku toki aʻu ki he ʻahó ni, naʻe ʻikai te u ʻilo ʻoku ʻi ai foki mo e kau paionia ʻi heni ʻi ʻOtavalo, pea ko ʻeku ongomātuʻá ia ʻOku fakafiefia ʻeni kiate au.”
ʻOku akoʻi kitautolu ʻe Misa mo Sisitā Munosa ʻoku tau tuku atu ha tukufakaholo paionia ʻo e tuí ʻi he hoko ko ha paioniá—ʻi hono fakaava, fakahaaʻi, mo moʻui ʻaki ʻa e founga ʻo e ongoongoleleí ke muimui ai e niʻihi kehé. ʻI heʻetau fakaʻaongaʻi maʻu pē ʻa e tui ki he ʻEikí mo fokotuʻu maʻu hotau laumālié ʻaki ʻa e ʻamanaki lelei ʻiate Iá, ʻoku tau hoko ai ʻo “fai mālohi pea tuʻu maʻu, pea fonu maʻu ai pē ʻi he ngaahi ngāue leleí, ʻo langaki [ke] fakalāngilangiʻi ʻa e ʻOtuá” (ʻEta 12:4). Pea, hangē ko Letiki ʻĀletí, te tau tokoniʻi ʻa kinautolu ʻoku hē ʻi he hala ʻo e moʻuí, pea te nau ako—kau ai mo e toʻu tangata ʻo e kahaʻú—meiate kitautolu ʻa e mālohi mo e nonga ʻo ha moʻui pehē.
Kuo ako ‘a ʻEletā M. Lāsolo Pālati ʻo e Kōlomu ʻo e Kau ʻAposetolo ʻe Toko Hongofulu Mā Uá ‘o pehē:
“Ko ʻetau fekukí ʻoku ʻilo ia ʻi heʻetau moʻui ʻi he māmani fonu angahala mo talatalakehe fakalaumālié, ʻa ia ʻoku hangē ʻoku ʻi he potu kotoa ai ʻa e fakahōhōlotó, taʻe-faitotonú, mo e mānumanú. Ko e toafa ʻo e ʻaho ní ko e puputuʻú mo e ngaahi pōpoaki ʻoku fepakipakí.”
Naʻe tānaki atu ʻa ʻEletā Pālati ʻo pehē ke ʻoua naʻa tau fakavaʻivaʻinga ʻi he ngaahi fekau ʻa e ʻOtuá. “Ko e fakaʻehiʻehi mei he ngaahi fakatauele pea mo e kovi ʻo e māmaní, ʻoku fie maʻu ki ai ʻa e tui mo e lototoʻa ʻa ha paionia fakaonopooni moʻoni.”12
ʻOfa ke tau takitaha fakakaukau ke hoko ko ha paionia pea laka ki muʻa pea fakaava a e halá ki he niʻihi kehe ʻa ia kuo ʻauhē ʻi ha māmani fonu ʻi he angahalá, puputuʻú, mo e loto veiveiuá. ʻOfa ke tau manatuʻi ʻa e kau paioniá mo ʻenau ngaahi talanoá, manatuʻi ne nau omi ke langa ʻa Saione ʻi ha ngāue uouangataha, pea tali ʻa e fatongia ke fakatō ha tui pehē ʻiate kinautolu kotoa pē ʻoku tau fetaulakí—tautautefito ʻi he toʻu tangata kei tupu haké—pea ke fai ia ʻi hono foaki ʻetau “feilaulau moʻuí” (Loma 12:1) ʻo ha moʻui naʻe fokotuʻu maʻu ʻi he tui ki he ʻEiki ko Sīsū Kalaisí pea fakatefito ʻi he ʻamanaki lelei ki he ngaahi meʻa lelei ʻe hoko mai ʻiate Iá.
Ke hoko ai ko ha paionia ke “ʻoua naʻa [tau] fiu ʻi he fai leleí” (T&F 64:33). Naʻe ongoʻi taʻe veiveiua ʻe Ueleta Hesi naʻe ʻikai ha mahuʻinga makehe ʻi he papitaiso ʻi ha vaitafe ʻaisí. Pe naʻe fakakaukau ʻa ʻAisake Nasi ʻoku mahuʻinga fau ke tolongi ʻene tapaka naʻe fakateká ki he kelekelé. Pea kia Letiki ʻĀleti, naʻá ne fai pē ʻa e meʻa naʻe pehē ʻe he ʻEikí ʻoku totonu ke ne faí.
Kuo tupu ha meʻa lahi mei he ngaahi meʻa iiki mo faingofua kotoa ko ʻení! Ko ia tuku ke tau manatuʻi ʻoku ʻikai ha ngaahi meʻa iiki ʻi ha ngaahi ngāue lalahi. ʻI heʻetau moʻui ʻaki e ongoongoleleí, muimui ki he palōfitá, fili e tuí ʻi he loto taʻe veiveiuá, mo fai e fanga kiʻi meʻa ʻoku tupulaki ai ʻa e tuí pea ʻomi ha laumālie ʻo e ʻamanaki leleí, te tau hoko takitaha ko ha paionia, ʻo teuteu ʻa e halá ke muimui ai ʻa e niʻihi kehé.
