Esther 1–10

Studying the Scriptures

Do activities A and B as you study Esther 1–10.

  1. Use Their Example

Write about what you think a person your age could learn from the examples of each of the following three people in the book of Esther: Queen Vashti, Mordecai, and Esther. For each individual, give specific examples and references from the scriptures as part of your explanation.

  2. An Important Verse to Remember

    1. Read Esther 4:14 and then write it in your own words.

    2. Mordecai’s question to Esther in Esther 4:14 might well be asked of you today. President Ezra Taft Benson helped answer the question when he said: “For nearly six thousand years, God has held you in reserve to make your appearance in the final days before the second coming of the Lord. Some individuals will fall away; but the kingdom of God will remain intact to welcome the return of its head—even Jesus Christ. While our generation will be comparable in wickedness to the days of Noah, when the Lord cleansed the earth by flood, there is a major difference this time. It is that God has saved for the final inning some of His strongest children, who will help bear off the kingdom triumphantly. That is where you come in, for you are the generation that must be prepared to meet your God” (The Teachings of Ezra Taft Benson [1988], 104–5).

President Benson also said, “In all ages prophets have looked down through the corridors of time to our day. Billions of the deceased and those yet to be born have their eyes on us. Make no mistake about it—you are a marked generation. There has never been more expected of the faithful in such a short period of time than there is of us” (Teachings of Ezra Taft Benson, 105). Write a journal entry to your class, telling why it is important for them to remember that they have come to the kingdom “for such a time as this.”
