Habakkuk 1:2–4 records that Habakkuk asked the Lord about the Jews’ wickedness and why He allowed such wickedness among His people. The Lord answered him, in Habakkuk 1:5–11, asked the Lord why He would use the Babylonians—a people explaining that because of the Jews’ wickedness, the Babylonians would soon conquer them. In Habakkuk 1:12–17, Habakkuk more wicked than the Jews—to destroy His covenant people who had become wicked. In Habakkuk 2:2–20, the Lord answered by saying that the Babylonians would also be destroyed for their wickedness—even though they would seem to prosper for a time.
