Painting of the first vision by Walter Rane. The Father and Son appear to Joseph Smith in the sacred grove.

ʻUluaki Mata-meʻa-hāmaí, tā fakatātaaʻi ʻe Walter Rane

ʻOku ou fakaʻamu ke fakaaʻu mai ʻa e pole ʻa e Palōfitá kiate kitautolu ke tau ʻiloʻi pau mo ʻetau kau faifekaú, kāingalotú, mo ʻetau kau fiefanongó ʻa e ʻulungaanga ʻo e kau mēmipa ʻo e Toluʻi ʻOtuá.

ʻOku ʻikai hoko noa pē ʻa ʻetau ʻuluaki tefito ʻo e tuí ʻa ia “ʻOku mau tui ki he ʻOtua, ko e Tamai Taʻegatá, pea ki Hono ʻAlo, Ko Sīsū Kalaisí, pea ki he Laumālie Māʻoniʻoní” (Ngaahi Tefito ʻo e Tuí 1:1). ʻOku mahino ʻa e pōpoakí ki he kakai kotoa pē ʻoku nau akoʻi ʻa e ongoongoleleí. ʻOku ʻikai hano ʻaonga ʻetau feinga ki he ngaahi moʻoni kehe ʻoku tau tui ki aí ʻo kapau kuo teʻeki ai ke tau fakapapauʻi ʻi heʻetau fakakaukaú mo e fakakaukau ʻa kinautolu ʻoku tau akoʻí ʻa e fatongia mahuʻinga taha ʻo e Toluʻi ʻOtuá ʻi heʻetau tokāteliné mo hotau ikuʻanga taʻengatá. Kuo pau ke tau ʻiloʻi e Kakai Fakalangi ko ʻení ʻi he tapa kotoa pē te tau lavá. Kuo pau ke tau ʻofa ʻiate Kinautolu, ofi ange kiate Kinautolu, talangofua kiate Kinautolu, pea feinga ke hangē ko Kinautolú.

Pea ʻoku ʻikai ke tau papitaiso mai kinautolu ki he Siasi ʻo e ngaahi fāmili fiefiá pe ko e Kuaea ʻa e Tāpanekale Māmongá.

Pea ko e hā ʻa e ngaahi meʻa ko iá? Naʻe aʻusia ʻe hono kakaí “ha fuʻu liliu lahi,” ʻo “ʻikai ai te [nau] toe maʻu ha holi ke faikovi, kā ke failelei maʻu ai pē,” pea nau “loto-fiemālie ke fai ha fuakava … ke fai e finangalo [ʻo e ʻOtuá], pea talangofua ki heʻene ngaahi fekaú ʻi he meʻa kotoa pē [ʻoku totonu] ke ne fekau [kiate kinautolú], ʻi he toenga kotoa ʻo [honau] ngaahi ʻahó” (Mōsaia 5:2, 5).

Large out door scene with a market square/campsite in the foreground and green hills in the background. In the right foreground there is the side of alarge stuped tent; the tent has an awning supported by ropes and poles. Hanging from the awning is a series of poles. Underneath the awning is a mother with several children all in highly colored tunics and skirts. In the left foreground is another family. This family has a father with a daughter in hi lap, two women beside him (one with a child in her lap) and a young boy with no shirt. Behind the man is another figure with a bowed head. Threre are several other figures and tents in the picture, but they are across the ones in the foreground. A large tower is the focus of the painting. The tower appears like scaffolding with a shaded top. On top of the tower are three men. One wears a blue robe and speaks with outstretched arms. The other two seem to be recording his words. Behind the tower is a stone building with step shapped sides. "Walter Ranes '03" appears in the lower right corner in red. The Reverse side reads, "Walter Rane 2003/ In the Service of Your God Mosiah 2:17/ King Benjamin Addresses his People".

Jesus Christ depicted standing with His arms outstretched as an invitation for people to come to Him. Several people are gathered around Christ. Most of the people are looking up at Christ. An elderly man is kneeling on the ground. The man is clasping the robe of Christ and resting his head against Christ's side. Another elderly man is seated by Christ. He is resting his head on Christ's other side.
