2:34Tempt, Temptation See also Agency; Devil; Endure A test of a person’s ability to choose good instead of evil; an enticement to sin and follow Satan instead of God. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, Matt. 6:13 (3 Ne. 13:12). God will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able to bear, 1 Cor. 10:13. Christ was tempted like as we are, Heb. 4:14–15. Blessed is the man that endureth temptation, James 1:12–14. The temptations of the adversary cannot overpower those who hearken unto the word of God, 1 Ne. 15:24 (Hel. 5:12). Man could not act for himself save he was enticed by the one or the other, 2 Ne. 2:11–16. Watch and pray continually, that ye may not be tempted above that which ye can bear, Alma 13:28.
