Adventure Awaits!
Purpose
There’s adventure waiting for you out in God’s beautiful creations! Camping and other outdoor experiences can help you enjoy the beauty of Heavenly Father’s creations, and feel the peace of the Holy Ghost. Learning beforehand and being prepared will help you make the most of your experience.
Goal Description
Learn how to safely enjoy the beauty of nature through hiking and camping.
Goal Ideas
-
Practice setting up a tent in a yard or park.
-
Learn how to cook several meals over a campfire or with charcoal. You can practice anywhere that has a fire pit or barbecue stand, such as a local park or recreational area.
-
Plan a hike that will challenge you. Doing it with friends or family will make it even more fun! Build your endurance by taking short hikes or walks. A step counter or GPS can help you measure distance so you can increase it each week. When you’re ready, take that challenging hike.
-
Do a practice run for a camping trip. For example, you could sleep in sleeping bags inside the house or set up a tent and cook over a camping stove in your backyard. A practice run helps you work out problems with your gear before you head out into nature.
-
Put all your skills to use by planning and completing an overnight camping trip. Next time, try for two nights!
-
Create your own goal.
