Purpose

Do you need to make a decision or solve a problem? Sometimes it can seem daunting! But with the Lord’s help, you can develop the skills and confidence to make decisions and solve problems. And you’ll grow in the process.

Goal Description

Learn problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Goal Ideas

  • Get your friends together and do activities that develop problem-solving or decision-making skills. For instance, you could divide into teams to build and fly kites, or to build towers with common objects like sticks and tape.

  • In a journal, write down a problem you are facing, and study out what needs to be done. Write down the information you have, the information you are missing, your options, and your attitude. Finally, write down your decision. Take your decision to the Lord, and write down the impressions you receive through the Spirit. Do you feel like the Lord’s response is a clear yes or no? Or do you feel like you should wait a while or consider a different path? Whatever your answer, make a plan to follow the direction you receive.

  • Family history is a great way to learn problem-solving skills. Look at your family lines in Family Tree and find a place where someone may be missing-for instance, a person without a spouse or a couple with few or no children. Look for records that will help you find the information you need. When you find someone who is missing, add this person to Family Tree. Ask your temple and family history consultant if you need help.

  • Create a vision board of things you want to accomplish in the next 2, 5, and 10 years. Write down the corresponding decisions you will need to make to reach your goals. Add information to your board that will help you make these decisions.

  • Create your own goal.
