Purpose

It’s sometimes easy to take things like electricity, running water, and even grocery stores for granted. But if you didn’t have those things, would you know what to do? Whether you’re out enjoying nature or helping your family and friends in an emergency, knowing basic survival and first aid skills will help you feel more peaceful and confident and be better prepared to help others.

Goal Description

Learn basic survival and first aid skills.

Goal Ideas

  • Consult with a survival expert or read a manual to learn about basic survival skills such as basic first aid, creating a shelter, purifying water, and so forth.

  • Make a list of things you would need for a 72-hour kit and then start collecting the things on your list.

  • Attend a CPR and first aid workshop offered by the Red Cross, your ward or another faith congregation, or a local community center.

  • Attend or plan a campout or some other experience where you can learn and practice outdoor skills.

  • Create your own goal.
