Honor the Sabbath Day
Purpose
Do you want to feel closer to the Lord and further from temptation? Do you want to appreciate the Atonement of Jesus Christ more? As you honor the Sabbath day, you’ll bring these blessings and more into your life.
Goal Description
Show your love for the Lord by how you honor the Sabbath day.
Goal Ideas
-
Prepare ahead for the Sabbath. This may include having your clothes clean, ironed, and ready. Try to finish homework or other tasks that might keep you from enjoying the Sabbath.
-
Find ways to make the Sabbath a delight, such as spending time with family, going on a walk, or other positive things.
-
Take a break from your cell phone and other technology on the Sabbath. Try to use computers only to worship or serve on the Sabbath.
-
Spend time studying and praying about the Sabbath day. Instead of focusing on things you can’t do, decide how you will use the Sabbath day to show your love for Heavenly Father. (See President Nelson’s talk “The Sabbath Is a Delight” for more ideas.)
-
Set aside a regular time to do family history. You could spend time indexing, interviewing a parent or grandparent, adding family photos to Family Tree, or preparing names of deceased ancestors for temple ordinances.
-
Create your own goal.
